Today I understand that though I care for my children in a thousand different ways and have more impact on their lives than anyone, I remain essentially powerless. Who they are will ultimately be up to them. I can guide them, influence them and give them acceptance and love. I understand that my children were, are and always will be in God's hands. One of my important jobs as parent is to help them get in touch with their own internal healer, strength and Higher Power so that if they fall when I am not there to pick them up, they will be able to do that for themselves.
I accept my powerlessness over my children. Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of life's longing for itself. They come through you but not from you. And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
--Kahlil Gibran

Like encouragement from a wise mentor...,

This review is from: Daily Affirmations for Parents: How to Nurture Your Children and Renew Yourself During the Ups and Downs of Parenthood (Paperback)
I LOVE this little book! When I was raising my children it quickly became a source of daily inspiration for me. As a parent striving to NOT pass on to my kids all the "junk" from being raised in a home with alcoholism, I soaked up the daily reflections like encouragement from a wise mentor.
Now that my children are grown and have their own children, I have made sure that each has a copy of their own as well. And as a professional in the field of substance abuse-related issues, I have purchased many, many of these terrific little books to both inspire and anchor recovering parents through their tumultuous parenting years.

I have used this book daily for years, when my kids were young, and now for my inner child. I love to give it as a gift. Others seem to really find it helpful as well. Just plain great. Easy to understand information with affirmations.

Get this book of daily affirmations and never let it out of your car! Yes, I'm serious. If you are a parent, you know about all the 5 minute intervals you spend waiting... Am I right? There is no easier, quicker or more direct way to change your attitude toward the gift that is your child or the challenge that is your parenting. This is an investment in your parent/child relationship. It is worth the purchase price if it changes your relationship with your child and enriches your lives for just one day. Also a great stocking stuffer and/or baby shower gift!
