5.0 out of 5 stars A cookbook lover's dream!
This cookbook is not only full of fabulous bean recipes, it is a fun read as well! I love Suzanne's suggestions, helpful hints, and the extras about friends and family who lovingly inspired her along the way.

As a bean LOVER, I am delighted by all the extremely creative recipes - and I'm anxious to try out the desserts! One of my favorite things about this cookbook is...

2.0 out of 5 stars beans without meat
An interesting cookbook, but left me a little disappointed in that I was looking for more ways to prepare beans in general, rather than more ways to cook beans without meat. I'd imagine this book would be more appreciated by a vegetarian than this omnivore who'd prefer a few bean recipes that make use of a ham bone, ham hocks, or even chicken stock to bean brownies.

One of my favorite things about this cookbook is the set-up. Instead of the traditional cookbook method of chapters grouped into "appetizers", "entrees", "desserts", etc. - each chapter in this book is dedicated to ONE bean variety. So for example, with black beans - you will find all the appetizers, entrees, desserts, etc. IN the black bean chapter! I thought this was great - no digging through the "desserts" chapter to find where the black bean desserts are!

I highly recommend this cookbook - there is literally something for everyone. It makes healthy eating FUN - thank you Suzanne!

I've found ways to get my kids to eat beans. Suzanne's recipes for desserts and breads using beans are ingenious. And for adults who are looking for ways to eat less meat there is plenty of inspiration. I created a Superbowl party menu using bean enchiladas as the entree and "Bean,I mean CreamPuffs" for dessert. The meal was a hit. You won't be disappointed in this book. I am buying them for my friends and for my sister, who is a dietician.

5.0 out of 5 stars Recipes are as delicious as they are easy., April 1, 2007
This review is from: The Daily Bean: 175 Easy and Creative Bean Recipes for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner....And, Yes, Dessert (Paperback)
This book is high on my list when advising my nutritional clients to include more fiber in their diet. Yes, I always get the look that says "Oh! What about the gas?". Fortunately, the author includes several suggestions for "circumventing" that issue.
The recipes themselves are delicious and easy. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the tastiness of the desserts.

FEB 2008 Update: Last week I made the flourless Chocolate Tort - It was awesome. Not low calorie but awesome just the same!!

The book is formatted by bean type; then by Appetizers, Salads, soups & sides, Main dishes and finally desserts for each bean type.
Be sure to read the introduction - this is where the author gives her recipe hints, substitutions, and nutritional info.

Would you believe brownies, fudge, cakes, breads made with beans as the base....healthy foods that kids will love. Offers lots of great ideas for meals for those who are looking for alternatives to beef and chicken for dinner.

4.0 out of 5 stars The daily bean, May 15, 2008
This review is from: The Daily Bean: 175 Easy and Creative Bean Recipes for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner....And, Yes, Dessert (Paperback)
I use this book regularly. Some recepies are excelent others I didn't like. The strenght of this book is that it offers cakes and "breads" which are very delicious. My favorite recepies in this book are the marokkan lentel soup, the black bean chocolate bread and the black bean borritos.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who's a vegan, vegetarian and everybody who is looking for a high fiber diet that offers a way to include protein without contaminants (which are found in meat, poultry and seafood) into there diet.
This book offers quick and easy recepies which anyone can cook as well as more lavish ones.
People who don't know how to handle there legumens (beans & lentels) will find detailed instructions how to... I also like that there are a lot of recepies offered that do work with canned beans, when you don't have much time to spend in the kitchen.
If you are curious about how diverse beans and lentals can be and you are open minded - this book is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars The absolute best bean book!, July 21, 2010

This review is from: The Daily Bean: 175 Easy and Creative Bean Recipes for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner....And, Yes, Dessert (Paperback)
SInce becoming a vegetarian and switching to mostly beans for protein, I have bought so many cookbooks, most a waste of time. Until I found this one! I absolutely LOVE MS. White's book. Every recipe I've tried, which has been several, are all so good. They're perfect. Not too hard, not too easy. Just right. I have to avoid tomato ,and fortunately she doesn't use alot of it in most of her recipes. She is soooo creative without being weird. Count me as a big fan. She's made my life so much easier and tastier. This is one clever woman, I hope some day she does another. Sign me up!

The author has developed great tasting recipes. Also, she gives directions on how to cook all the beans. I have learned a lot. I no longer buy beans by the can. I can make them at home, from dried, and for so little money.
The recipes in this book taste terrific and most are easy to prepare. I have been telling friends of the great food. Most of them did not believe, until I brought them some things to try. I had to order 10 more books for friends and family.
I have 2 teenage boys. We decided to make the Black Bean Torte as a special dessert. My husband said "wow this tastes so exotic, it is so good". My boys and I laughed, we knew what the "exotic" ingredients were, BEANS!
I really feel this is a great way to incorporate protien into your daily food intake. I would highly recomend this book to all cooks. Mom's with picky eaters, diabetics, vegetarians, anyone on a diet, anyone with anemia, food allergies, or anyone who just loves food. Give this book a try, you will not be dissapointed.
My only dissapointment is that I want more recipes! Note to the author, please develop more recipes. I would like to see refried beans, more mexican food, flourless recipes, more soups, and of course, more of those fabulous desserts! Thanks for a book full of fantastic food!

What a hysterical, loving book. My husband was just put on a bean diet and thanks to Suzanne and her recipes, I have been saved from certain despair. Such a find. I already know what all my friends and relatives are getting as gifts this year.

This truly unique book offers a vast variety of recipes. Not being a big bean eater myself, I have found many of the recipes absolutely delicious. The book has great educational information and the recipes are very easy to follow.
