I teach indoor rowing and have given my copy of this book to everyone that I coach. I bought it at the Crash Bs and did not know how to get additional copies. I am thrilled it is available on Amazon. It is the first book that I recommend to a new rower or an older athlete! It is outstanding at explaining the benefits of rowing for people who are new to the sport or who have never followed an exercise program in their life. The connection of moderate exercise and achievable goals for the non athletic person with the tangible outcome of breathing better has motivated many people to continue with the exercise. The explanation is simple and his advice is easy to follow. Many people consider rowing as an exercise for only elite athletes, yet the author shows how it can be used by people of all ages and all fitness levels. I consider this essential information for the new rower.

D.P.Orway is a coach who loves to help people of all ages and abilities live the best and longest life they can. Rowing indoors "EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK!!!" is his answer for us. This book is very academically sound but yet easy reading for anyone. He discussed physiological health as well as what faithful exercise will do for your mind and emotions. Though it has a reasonable amount of scientific research in it, it is also a highly motivational book. As you read the book you can't wait to get on a good rowing machine and "feel in your body what you are reading with your eyes." From the Alpha to the Omega this book covers it all. It is very well endorsed by a number of people in the field of health and exercise. Buy it, read it, row daily and live "high and long."

I recently bought my own rower and was looking for guidance on smart use of it. This book provided a good perspective on not limiting my use of the rower. The approach of daily rows makes it easier than worrying about rowing 3 times a week and then missing one (or more). Rowing has also become my replacement for running, after years of not running because of continuous leg and foot problems. The full body rower workout helps me break a solid sweat and achieve the "runner's high" that I have missed for so many years - and that is the biggest benefit!The program outlined in this book works for me. The workouts have raised my conditioning level to make my other hobbies more enjoyable. It also recommended getting involved in the online rowing community. I set up an account with concept2 and have participated in one challenge to date. The challenges and the logbook tracking give me regular visibility into my performance, which has been a great motivator by feeding on my competitive nature. The biggest gap in the book to me is that it doesn't provide a complementary stretching program, so you have to figure that out on your own. I recommend this book for all of us ex athletes looking for an effective exercise that doesn't pound our joints. I feel it has given me a workout approach I can sustain through the rest of my life (I'm shooting for another 50 years)!

I was just getting started with indoor rowing and found this book to be very useful. The book is stright forward and clearly written. It covers the basics of the health benefits of indoor rowing and how to use various indoor rowing machines. The book also contains a wealth of resource material, many suggestions for various workouts and tips on how to stay motivated. The right book for the person that wants to have a low impact high yeild work out plan including rowing. Concept 2 should ship there machines with a copy.
