Go Deeper,
By Marianne (Minnesota) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Daily in Christ (Paperback)
I was given this Devotional book last year and was looking very forward to starting it all over again now in 2008. I purchased this book for quite a few people on my Christmas list and all have given it a "Wow!" review. I have had other Devotionals in the past but this is the one that I have always been searching for. It gives you sound and clear understanding to life's "truth", along with the same respectful application to the Word. Mr. Anderson is not afraid to tackle many subjects that one may not want to even think about. You not only have knowledge, but the wisdom for the application as well. I did his study on The Bondage Breaker and found it to be quite powerful. If you are tired of a nice little Bible-based story for your devotions and want much more to your Biblical understanding and prayer life, as well as life-applications, BUY THIS BOOK! One page devotions with a lifetime of applicable information.

This is more than just a devotional guide. It is a book that will help you understand who you are in Christ. It will reveal to you your wonderful position as a child of God and the authority you have over the world, the flesh and the devil as a son of God.

A Meaty Devotional,

When I happened to come across the book God's Power at Work in You, which was co-authored by Mr. Anderson and my own past professor of theology Dr. Robert Saucy, it implied to me that Anderson could be trusted, and I was right. I was reading in one of Anderson's books recently to get some help in a particular area, when I saw this book. I knew I would benefit from reading it daily. If you are of the Evangelical persuasion and want a devotional that not only lifts you up and inspires you, but you also want meat, solid biblical teaching, this book is for you. Anderson is not afraid to deal with the demonic and problems that can come from their influence. Furthermore, he wants you to know who you are in Christ and be strong in the Lord, and he wants to portray for you the pathway to freedom from sin and victorious Christian living. As I read these daily devotions I am frequently amazed at their richness. This isn't a book of feel-good pabulum. It's well-balanced spiritual nourishment for those who seek to live their Christian lives seriously, diligently but also joyfully. Every entry provides reliable biblical teaching for a solid grounding in Christian doctrine and practical Christian living. Highest recommendation.

I read this book to keep on track, but Bondage Breaker is a good start. Neil Anderson understands the traps we can fall into. He helps identify how Satan can plant thoughts that make it seem like they're our own and then we wind up thinking we're evil. All Bible based and just a start with the " Freedom in Christ" ministries. Helped me out of a very dark time.

I've read another book by this same author, The Bondage Breaker, so was looking forward to digging into this book, as I've learned in the past that my walk with Christ has always been much closer and deeper with a daily devotional reading that gives me some food for thought throughout the day. I've been reading on this for a week now, and have not been disappointed. I'd recommend this book for anyone, whether a new or established Christian.
