I have gotten the Daily Guideposts book for the past 7 years and have loved it. I always start out my day reading an inspiring story from one of their wonderful writers. Great to see scripture brought to life in everyday people's lives.

"Digging Deeper," which references a passage or two, has been added to each daily devotional. I find this a very nice addition.

I recommend this devotional along with Reflections for Daily Prayer, Advent 2012 to Christ the King 2012, an Anglican devotional. VERY different from Guideposts (several "Reflections" authors have affiliations with Oxford or Cambridge), but just as good if not better. I start my day with Reflections, conclude my day with Guideposts.

I read some other devotionals, but these two are among my four favorites and both have Kindle editions.

I have been a reader of Daily Guideposts for 18 years. Look forward to connecting with the daily writers. They are like family.

My mama always said it was the best way to start your day.She gave me one every Christmas for years. Now that she has gone home to our Lord, I have given myself the gift for the coming year. "Spirit-Lifting Devotional" that stays with you forever and reminds me who taught me to love God.

The modern view of Jesus nowadays is that He has come to be apart of our agenda, bless our comfort zones, personal motivations and help is conquer our dreams. The Jesus of scripture is the God-man who, by saving us, gives us a new heart with desires to be apart of His agenda fulfilling the great commission. Psalms says to delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart, what the psalmist is saying is if youre delighting in the Lord your desires will be in line with the Lords desires. and your desire will even be the Lord, those are the desires He blesses. This book is full of daily man-centered watered down devotionals that don't glorify God, but exalt the fallen and self-centered desires of all men. This book is nothing but a self-help, motivational, prep talk book with a few random bible verses thrown in. I feel as though this book is just an encouragement to the idols we already have, but tries to ease our guilt since we can feed them in the name of Jesus. But of course a book like this gets good reviews because it tells people what they want to hear . It doesn't radically call them to lose their life to gain it like Christ calls.

I have been journaling for many years now and many years ago, I received the Daily Guideposts as a gift and decided to incorporate my journaling with my reading. The stories shared by the various contributors are always inspiring and many times comforting and offer guidance. It's amazing how I'll be struggling with something that day and then when I do the reading for the day (at bedtime) and it seems to offer me just the right encouragement or guidance on what I was going through during the day! The daily verses is a good way to spend devotional time and mediate on God's word for that day; it really keeps me "conneceted" to my Lord and Savior. I do not use the "reading the Bible in a year" portion as I have another book for that. Also, I like the prayer at the end and the "one liners" at the end. I encourage everyone to journal; it's like have a good psychologist or therapist without the expensive cost!

Daily Guideposts Devotional has been a daily part of my life for several years. I have come to feel that the authors of these devotionals are friends who share a faith in God and an understanding of my average life. Each day's devotional shares scripture, a personal story and a prayer. Not preachy in any fashion, more of a sharing of all of life's issues with a constant theme of hope and peace given by God. The short writer biograhies make the devotionals more insightful. I would highly recommend this devotional anyone searching for a meaningful relationship with God.

I have purchased this book for many, many years. This year I ordered 3 so as to give to others. Even now I've realized I should order an additional book for another person I know will greatly appreciate it. It's easy to begin to feel you "know" each writer, to see their pictures and yearly updates in the back, and have the writers touch the heart with meaningful stories of their own, relating them to a particular scripture passage.

My mom was in a hospice facility with limited mobility so I thought this would make a good gift since she loved to read (and loved Guideposts). I gave it to her for Christmas and she was thrilled. Unfortunately, she passed away on January 2nd and did not have the opportunity to read it. I brought it home and have been reading it myself. I enjoy the daily posts while also feeling closer to my mom.
