I bought Daily Handwriting Practice: Contemporary Cursive for my 19 year old granddaughter. I noticed she printed everything, including her signature. She had been printing for so long she didn't remember how to do cursive! This workbook is more advanced than some of the other workbooks, that seem more for younger grades. It didn't take long before my granddaughter learned how to do cursive again.

This wasn't exactly what I had in mind. This book is strictly practice, it doesn't actually teach the child how to write cursive or show the formation at all. And it moves along very quickly, the entire alphabet is covered in four days' practice (half-page each day). Take a look at the Letter Formation Chart in the customer's images - it only shows what the completed letters look like, not how to form them.

We were happy to have discovered this series. My 2 boys had already learned the formation of the letters, but still needed practice in writing. This series of books fit the bill perfectly! The practice is divided into daily amounts and the children are learning other information through the writing. Instead of simply copying letters or words focused on one letter, they are putting the whole alphabet into practice while writing and therefore learning about the topic of the day. They have found this much more interesting and are actually enjoying their handwriting time now.

I'm probably the only one who cares about this, but the image for this product is showing Traditional Cursive, but the title of the product is Contemporary Cursive. When I click to search inside, it does show Contemporary Cursive, so I'm hoping that's what I get when I order this product. Contemporary Cursive begins all letters on the baseline, which is much easier for a child to learn. But it's hard to find....Anyhow, just thought I'd point out the discrepancy between the title and the graphic for anyone who wants to be sure what they are getting. I'll try and update this when I get the product...

Bought this as a practice pad for our daughter. She loves it and we've seen great improvement in her handwriting. Short sections of writing practice.

This is not for the beginner, who is learning, but for one already well familiar with cursive, but needing more practice.

Many handwriting programs progress slowly from A to Z with very little practice connecting the letters along the way- or at the end either. This book progresses rapidly from A to Z and spends the bulk of the book with actual practice putting the letters together using a variety of sentence structures, topics and formats (Science facts & paragraphs, poems, riddles, figures of speech, etc.) For those struggling with cursive fluency, this is an excellent resource.

The daily warm-ups are creative and factual. The handwriting practice allows students to practice penmanship while learning facts about history, geography, and more.

I'm using this to teach cursive handwriting to an 8th grader. It's late for cursive, I know, but better late than never! This is great for any student just learning or for practice. Recommended ages are grade 3 and up. It works well for an older student because it's not too childish.

Each daily lesson is about ½ a page. The book is consumable and you write in the book. There is a model and the student copies it. Simple. Painless.

Getting the job done with a kid who could not care less about cursive!
