5.0 out of 5 stars All the scriptures from the book in one place
This is such a handy book to use along with The Purpose Driven Life because it pretty much focuses on the scriptures (and there are plenty of them) from all the different translations that the author uses. So you don't have to keep flipping to the back of the book to see where the scriptures came from - just use this paperback along with the regular book. Works great!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not so good
I was somewhat disappointed in this addition to the original book. It was just the quotes of the scripture from the original text. If I wanted additional information of what I read , I would have looked it up myself. It, to me, was a waste of my money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, May 6, 2008

I love the purpose driven life book, and wanted to share with my 17y old niece but knew she would sit and read, I thought this would be perfect, but was disappointed, it really would just confuse her more, and doesn't really provide a devotional guide, it's just been sitting on my bookcase, i wouldn't even find use for it.

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit overrated, July 12, 2004
I received great reviews from friends about this book so I became interested myself. However, upon reading, I wondered if their praises were over generous & the book overrated? I don't want to sound too negative in reviewing this book. Maybe had I read it during a more receptive state, then, I probably would have appreciated it more. As it is, I found the introductory phase too long. The author could have simply made this shorter & proceeded with the "purpose chapters" immediately. What I appreciate though is the "reflection portions" at the end of each chapter. These do not only summarize the several-pages long chapters, but most importantly allow you to reflect & get in touch with your inner self.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Gift, February 18, 2007

Someone gave this little book to me on my birthday in December. It's got brief, inspiring segments, perfect to leave in the WC. I love it so much, I bought several to have on hand as gifts. I have given one away so far to a friend for her birthday. This friend (a not-yet-believer) was very grateful and told me that she had memorized one of the verses. She is giving a copy to her sister. The beat goes on.

This has far surpassed any expectations I had. This is a great book, and can give anyone the insight they need for their purpose on earth.

3.0 out of 5 stars Heavy on Scriptures; Light on Reflection, December 25, 2010
This review is from: Daily Inspiration for the Purpose Driven Life: Scriptures and Reflections from the 40 Days of Purpose (Hardcover)
Daily Inspiration for the Purpose Driven Life identifies 5 purposes that God has for every believer: Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry, and Evangelism. The book contains 40 daily devotionals that cover each purpose in turn.

Each devotional has, on average, about 15 Bible verses related to the the topic of the day. This book will thus serve as an excellent aid for memorizing Bible verses. However, it comes up short as a book for devotion or Bible study because it is a little sparse on commentary for explaining the verses in detail. As such, this book is best suited for someone who already has a rudimentary grasp of scripture or who intends to use it as a companion to Warren's other book, The Purpose-Driven Life.

In addition, the scripture verses in the book are taken from numerous interpretations of the Bible (TEV, LB, The Message Bible, NIV, NCV, NLT, CEV, GWT, etc.) - this would be problematic if you are antipathetic to any one interpretation.

Daily Inspiration for the Purpose Driven Life may be useful as a companion book to The Purpose Driven Life or as a memorization aid for Bible verses, but I wouldn't recommend it as a standalone book for devotional study.

4.0 out of 5 stars TO ACT OR NOT TO ACT, February 18, 2005
With an open mind and some determination, you can find out how your life can be better through spiritual understanding and by active daily participation in God's plan for your life. One's life has purpose and comes to a 'dead end' only if you ignore God's plan for you. The forty day journey using this additional resource can have a life-changing impact on you if you determine to seek out your purpose. Your life will become purposeful and satisfying. Your choice - dead end or satisfaction.

In this world, nothing is perfect. How we view the things around us colors what we think. If we think that the glass is half full and that is a good thing, we will have a positive view of things. If we think that the glass is half empty and that is a bad thing, we will have a negative view of things. So many have an attitude about life that is ambivalent because they let 'things' around them put a damper on their purpose. God gives us his plan. It is tailored for each of us as individual's. Negative attitudes normally bring unsatisfactory results. Positive attitudes color life in very reassuring ways. One must choose one's attitude very carefully. Things of this world are temporary and imperfect.

There are some of us who need help with reinforcing scriptures and guidance with meditation, while others need little or no assistance. If one needs the assistance this book is a great way to go. If you do not need the assistance or fail to follow through with using it, it will be a waste. Your choice is to act or not to act. Let your choice be an honest action.
