good supplement,
This review is from: Daily Math Practice, Grade 3 (Paperback)
I'm a firm believer of practice early on math. It will build kid's interest and confidence for the long run. This book is invaluable. It breaks grade 3 math into small pieces and let your child do a little every day. My daughter learned a lot from this book. She often asks further questions and thinks a lot more. It helped her do well in math. In the Beestar online math contest (a nice web site http://www.beestar.org), she often wins honor mentions. Very good math supplement.

Easy Way to Keep Up,
By A Customer
This review is from: Daily Math Practice, Grade 3 (Paperback)
As a homeschooling mom, the search for texts is difficult! This is not our main math text, but an easy way to keep my child up to speed in many different areas of math. For example, if we are studying geometry, he will still get daily practice in addition and subtraction... We use this book daily. I would recommend it as a supplement for any math program.

Excellent for daily review and practice!,

I am a 2/3rd grade teacher and LOVE this entire series. I use the daily math practice as part of the "brain-warmer" period of the day. This is when I give them a sampling of different things (daily word problem, daily language practice, etc) to work on quietly while everyone settles in and I can check homework, count lunches, etc. I find this to be a GREAT tool as it allows students to work on two computation problems, two mixed problems, and one word problem- that way it is not overwhelming, and they are able to review a variety of skills. I find this "brain-warmer" period useful by utilizing a mix of the daily word problems, daily math practice, daily language review, and daily paragraph editing, that way we can review a mix of the skills learned- and the ones that need to be learned for the NJ ASK while mixing it up and not overwhelming the students with too many problems first thing in the morning.
Excellent resource, I recommend it to all 3rd grade teacher and even to parents looking to boost their child's word problem/math skills!

Way too easy for 3rd grade!,

I received this today & am shocked at how out of sync it is with the public school 3rd grade math in our area! This is more on the level of late first grade or early second grade, at least up until week 30 or so in the book. For example, the first problem is "8+2." At week 26, "1x5." I guess it's a good reinforcement of the basics, but I was hoping that the daily practice would match the daily lessons a little bit better.

I teach remedial 3,4,5 grade math. Following the format of the other grade level editions, this provides a varied daily parctice and a short graphing of results at the end of the week. I use it as a "Do NOw" every beginning of math class to help keep skills fresh. It is appropriately layed out, appropriate to the grade level curriculum and a good, easy to use format that keeps the children on their toes!

It does not challenge the kids in any manner,

I am sure 3rd grade kids can be anywhere on the scale with respect to the caliber. My daughter is an average / above average math student. And she was able to do her weeks ration in less than 10 mins which i find is not challenging enough for her.. My main motivation to spend my daughters time and my time and money is to get her something challenging to her to improve on her math skills. If it is below par her school curriculum, what is the point of this book. At least it didnt make sense for me.. I see it a total waste of time / money.. Anyone who is looking for a challenging book, look elsewhere.. I am looking myself for a better book.. Probably i will goto a book store to get one instead of burning hands on amazon..

What a clever way to keep up with skills yet make it something that isn't arduous or too time consuming. We did one or two (got a bit of a late summer start!) in the morning before activities got rolling! Loved the format and the last problem for the day being a story problem. The Friday ones were actually something that was looked forward to because they were different! Made reviewing and at least trying to keep skills learned from getting too stale! Recommend!!!

I already use the Daily Language Review with my 3rd graders and felt that incorporating math to their morning work would be a great addition. Each week I copy that weeks lessons and the kids work on a little each day. We vary from teacher checking after completing the work to checking it all together. I prefer to check each individuals work so I know what is being comprehended and what needs more work. The type is big and easy to follow and includes many items from review while also introducing new concepts in easy forms. I highly recommend this book to any teachers library

Not Enough Problems per Day,

This review is from: Daily Math Practice, Grade 3 (Paperback)
I liked the work presented, but there were not enough problems per day. I think there were only 3-5 problems each day. This was not worth the money, and I returned it. I felt like I could get more for the money with other practice products.

I love this book! I was looking for math resouces that touched on third grade skills. I chose this book because it had a few problems to workout everyday. Also, many skills are revisited which gives my students multiple opportunities for exposure to the skills. I prefer to use the sheets for morning work, but it can be used for homework and math learning centers. This book has been a great resource for my students.
