This is an AMAZING cookbook!!,
This review is from: Dairy-Free, Egg-Free, Kid Pleasing Recipes & Tips (Paperback)
My 3-year-old daughter is severely allergic to eggs, milk, and nuts, so this cookbook was right up our alley. Now that I have been using it for a while, I can honestly say that it has been an absolute lifesaver for us. My husband says the author must have some sort of "voodoo magic" to make so many things taste so good. We also cannot believe how she has have managed to make things like scalloped potatoes dairy-free and still have them taste JUST LIKE regular scalloped potatoes. I recently used the cream of mushroom soup recipe in the cookbook to make a green bean casserole that tastes just like the real thing. We love the recipes in the book so much that I have been freezing a lot of the meals because we're expecting a new baby in March and I'm trying to stock up on dinners for right after the birth. If your child has allergies to milk, egg, and/or nuts, you HAVE to have this cookbook.

Not worth the money,

I had high expectations for this book. I have been cooking for my husband who is allergic to nuts, eggs and milk for years now and I am always on the lookout for new and inovative recipes. This book did not have any. The biggest disappointment, I think, was recipes like "Spaghetti" which was just a meat sauce for spaghetti -- Honestly, how hard do you have to try to make egg- and dairy-free meat sauce? And poached salmon? Again, not inovative, not new and not "kid-friendly" by my definition. The "cream soups" just use soymilk where cow's milk or cream would have been used. And the suggestion to roll tofu cream cheese up in "egg and dairy free" lunchmeat (I don't think I have ever found lunchmeat with eggs or dairy in them) as a snack... I don't even know what to say about that so-called "recipe." If you are truly unused to cooking for someone with these allergies and really unused to cooking in general, this may be a good book for you. If you have been cooking for a number of years (and can figure out how to make really obvious substitutions and omissions of milk and eggs), then pass on this book.

A SUPER, SUPER cookbook,

I got this book because I am lactose intolerant and needed recipes that everyone in my family of 4 would want to eat. I am so glad that I did. I love this cookbook. My husband and kids love this cookbook. It is the first cookbook that I look in. My brother who is very picky and "won't eat beans" love all the recipes that I have made out of this book; I have made over half. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because some of the baked goods are too oily for our tastes. I have thourghly enjoyed this book and would buy another written by her in a minute.

We have an 18 month old son with severe milk and egg allergies. This book has helped us find quick and easy meals we can have as a family as opposed to just giving him his jarred baby food.

A GREAT Cookbook for Families with Kids,
This review is from: Dairy-Free, Egg-Free, Kid Pleasing Recipes & Tips (Paperback)
I love this cookbook! It has been a lifesaver. My toddler son is allergic to milk, eggs and nuts/peanuts so trying to put together meals that the entire family can eat and enjoy has been challenging. Also I work full time and there a few slow cooker meals as well as meals that come together fast. The book also lists menus and snack ideas which I have used on ocassion. I got the book about three months ago and so far I have made about 20-30 recipes. Some of our favorites are: regular pancakes and apple pancakes (both are better than ones with dairy/eggs), chicken tenders, raspberry streusel dessert bread, monkey bread, banana bread, chili mac, chicken enchiladas, etc, ... there are too many to list. I have and would recommended this cookbook to anyone. Thank you SO much for a wonderful cookbook!

I bought 3 allergy-free cookbooks and this one is the best! My 10 month old was diagnosed with a milk allergy about 6 weeks ago and I've found recipes in here that our whole family enjoys. I especially like the pancakes, chocolate chip cookies & blueberry muffins.

Wonderful cookbook - truly a lifesaver!,
This review is from: Dairy-Free, Egg-Free, Kid Pleasing Recipes & Tips (Paperback)
I have had this cookbook for almost a year now after coming across Theresa's website while doing a search. I have a two-year-old son that was diagnosed with a life-threatening dairy allergy shortly after birth. I cannot tell you how stressed I was trying to find him things to eat. This cookbook has truly been a lifesaver! Every dish I have made (and I've made a lot of them) has been delicious! Ryan's favorite is the homemade pizza. My husband even raves about the sauce. :) Another favorite is the chicken lemon saute. So yummy! The dessert section is also great! Try finding a cake mix in a grocery store that doesn't have milk as an ingredient. With this cookbook, I was able to make white cake for my son's second birthday. Not only are the recipes great, but the "tips" are also quite useful. Kudos to Theresa for making a great cookbook for our childrens' allergies, and for making our lives a little easier. Thanks!

I have never written one of these reviews before, but this book is so special that I decided to take the time to do it. It was scary to hear that my nine-month-old son was highly allergic to milk, eggs and nuts. I am not a great cook so I was worried about what I could feed him, especially on his birthday. I tried an ef/mf/nf cake mix and a different cake recipe before my son's first birthday and was very disappointed with the results. On the day of the party I made Kingma's chocolate cake and it was a HIT!!! I did not even serve the "regular" cake--the cake from her book was so good!! I have made a few add'l recipes and they are easy and great too. If your child has been diagnosed with similar allergies, THIS BOOK WILL HELP.

I bought this book 2 weeks ago and have made one recipe from it which turned out a success for my daughter who is 14 months and allergic to egg and milk.
By the looks of it, it might be more suited for older kiddies, but I'm sure I'll still get lots of use of out it. Thank you.

I am so thankful for this book!! I absolutely love to cook, but found myself "stuck" in a rut after discovering all our daughter's allergies. There are so many AMAZINGLY yummy recipes in the book, especially the baked goods...and now I have some desserts I know we can take anywhere and no one will think we brought something weird. There are a few recipes I've had to tweak, either because they turned out not quite right or just because our tastes were different, but overall, this has been an incredible help to me, and I highly recommend it to moms of kids with food allergies!
