The Daisy Avanti 747 Triumph is a very, very accurate, .177 caliber, "one-pump" pellet pistol, at a "street price," as of this writing, of about $130. It is also very quiet which makes it suitable for indoor use as well as in a back yard. It is definitely "barrel heavy" and not a good choice for children, unless they are adult size. Total weight is 2.91 pounds; the steel, rifled barrel is 9.6" long; and overall length is 13.5". I received mine two months ago and this is what I found:

The cardboard box had a ding in it but it did not affect the 747. The packaging is not double-boxed, the interior box is a half-box styrofoam affair that fits inside the cardboard mailing carton. I ordered it from Pyramyd via Amazon. All vendors use this same packaging as it originates with Daisy. None of them repackage the piece nor do they open it to inspect before shipping it out. In fact, Daisy packs a bright orange instruction sheet that says if you have problems (defective gun, etc.) Do Not Return the airgun to the retail store where you purchased it, return it to Daisy. So, for all of you collector types, you do not get much of an original box. The name on the gun is Daisy Power Line 747. The pellet gun comes with a bit of oil on it and in it--particularly inside the barrel. Instructions tell you to run several cotton patches down the barrel to get rid of the excess oil before you fire it. If you don't have a .177 ramrod, a wood dowel or bamboo skewer works well and it will not scratch or ding the rifling in the barrel.

The front sight is a metal blade and ramp and the rear is plastic and completely adjustable for windage and elevation. My first test firings had the pistol shooting 3" low at 10 meters. It was easy to adjust. The safety is a T-bolt and works fine.

This is a very well made and accurate target pistol. After getting the sights aligned, I found that it would consistently deliver 1/2" or less groups from 10 meters when supported (on the back of a lawn chair). It's inherent accuracy is probably much better than my un-scientific testing methods.

Although it is a fairly large pistol, the weight is reasonable because they used a lot of plastic. Unfortunately, the grips, trigger and sights are all plastic. They look and function well, however, these components would feel better if they were wood and metal. My other air pistol is a Crossman 1377, and it does not even compare to this model. Even with the heavy use of plastic components, this pistol is light years ahead of the Crossman in both form and function.

A small tool is included to adjust the sights and trigger pressure. Both are easy to adjust and the sights have "tic" marks that help.

Bottom line...a pistol that is quiet to shoot, easy to operate, so accurate that you eventually get bored putting pellet after pellet throught the same hole and costs less than some airsoft replicas. A great buy.

just purchase this pistol. out of the box, no cleaning, no nothing, i shot a ragged hole 10 shot group at 10 yards

poi was 3" high , windage was perfect

adjusted the elevation and shot 1 ragged hole 5 shot group. adjusted again and shot still another ragged 5 shot group with perfect poi.

i do not care for 10 yd shooting. i much prefer 20, 30 and 50 yd shooting so....

shot 1 ragged hole 10 shot group at 20 yds
shot .296" 10 shot group at 30 yds
shot 10 shot group at 50 yds but could not measure because pellets only dented the target :) best guess based upon dents was .500"

YES, conditions were perfect and i shot off my bench

i am a 60 year old lifelong shooter. long range rifle and combat handguns. this is the most accurate handgun i have ever fired.

only a true, died in the wool snob would bad mouth this handgun.

my trigger breaks at 1.8 pounds.

can't wait till tomorrow to run a few hundred more rounds through it :)

This is a great pistol for target practice. I do wish it would come with left hand grips by default but I'll have to order replacements. RBGrips do make a wooden one if need be.

I prefer the single pump air guns now and I do like how easy this is to cock. I pinched myself a few times but once you figure out how to cock the gun, you'll know where not to put your fingers.

Trigger is fully adjustable and is nice and wide so it's easy to put the pad of your finger on it. Very crisp action.

Sites are easy to adjust but do wish they were metal instead of plastic.

The pistol is a bit front heavy so single handed shooting is a bit more of a challenge but it is doable. I prefer to use two hands at any rate.

Wish the bolt was not plastic but metal with a bit easier grip but I've grown used to it and now it doesn't really bother me. I doesn't stick out like my crosman 1377 or 2240 so it does provide a sleeker look to the gun. Just wish it was metal.

The only other issue I'm having with this gun is that there is a connection near the front of the pistol where the pump handle connects to and this joint has a pivoting screw that drops a bit when priming the pistol. It has rubbed away a grove on the outside of the pistol since it drops lower then it should but it doesn't feel like it will fall out. It just settles down a bit below the priming handle and has rubbed a bit away from from the barrel that holds the air pump handle, not the actual shooting barrel.

Sorry if I'm confusing you but this is a very good pistol and I do use it indoors and have very little concern about disrupting neighbors. It is very quiet but it can be heard through simple wooden doors but through walls it's just a slight muffle. Fine for homes and apartments. At work, like some people have the benefits, it's a bit harder to conceal during your lunch time practice sessions.
