Hye-young and her grandfather live in the Netherlands. To fill her days, Hye-young creates beautiful pieces of artwork and in order to pay the bills she draws or paints people's portraits. However, her favorite type of art is similar to those of Monet and Van Gogh: she likes to create sweeping pastoral paintings. On one such occasion, she fell into a river and lost her bag. Unbeknownst to her, she was being watched by another Korean named Park Yi. Park Yi saves her bag and soon has a bridge constructed for the pretty, young artist. Soon after she notices the bridge, and finds her lost bag, Hye-young paints a pastoral painting of daisies for her benefactor. Each day after that Park Yi sends daisies to Hye-young's workplace and a seed of love is planted into her heart.
But who is Park Yi. A rich art lover whose heart is ignited when he sees Hye-young for the first time? Not hardly. Park Yi is an assassin who works for Hong Kong crime lord. However, after seeing Hye-young his heart is softened and he too begins to love art in order to share part of her world. He might have been content to allow his affections to continue from afar, but one day another Korean man named Jeong Woo enters the scene. How long can a deadly man such as Park Yi stay at rest when the woman of his dreams begins to fall for another? Also, how can he endure the fact that Hye-young believes that Jeong Woo is her daisy man?
The above synopsis only scratches the surface of this quietly enjoyable film. For those primarily familiar with Jun Ji-hyun, should I call her Gianna Jun now?, from My Sassy Girl, her almost completely silent performance in this film will be quite a change. The plot of the movie is a bit unbelievable at times and at some points it leans precariously close to being complete cheese, but there are other elements such as the feeling of loneliness seeped through the film. For those who have lived abroad such scenes as when Hye-young eats a can of sub-standard kimchee with her noodles will strike a chord because it resonates with trying to bring a little bit of the familiar to a foreign land. Also, the stunning camerawork and depictions of beauty both natural and the features offered by the cityscape of Amsterdam are quite wonderful to behold. A good film for those who like Korean dramatic films, Daisy would make a nice addition to any DVD collection.

Fantastic Korean Movie, June 19, 2008

This is definately going to be added to my collection of korean dvd's. Hope that Hollywood or Bollywood don't spoil it by making stupid copies. I loved everyones performance in this movie and the plot line was very interesting indeed. Get it its great stuff.

Korean movie at its best, June 6, 2008

This is the first Korean movie DVD I would buy. I love the intricate plot and performance by the leading actress. Korean cinema is getting attention from the world.
