4.0 out of 5 stars Never tried it but..., August 1, 2011
This review is from: Daiwa Fishing Combo D-Shock Dsc-B Spin Reel With Fiberglass Rod (Sports)
To anyone reading this that ever bought a reel with line on it.... NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, use the line that is on the reel. It is always junk line meant to grab attention. Any reelmaker worth their salt knows that line choice is up to the angler.

Soooo, if Mr. Lance wants to complain about his reel not having line, let him ask his shaman why the world is sooo cruel. And get out of his way if you meet him near the waters edge. You may get a hook where you don't want it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Reel is cheaply made junk, rod is simply OK, November 21, 2011
This review is from: Daiwa Fishing Combo D-Shock Dsc-B Spin Reel With Fiberglass Rod (Sports)

My 9 year old daughter managed to snap the handle off after only 5 trips. The drag is horrible, it's clunky feeling and not at all a 'value' reel.

The rod is fine, and above average for this introductory level, which is why it got the two stars that it did.

I put a Pflueger Trion reel on it and it's working much better for her that way.

4.0 out of 5 stars OK, but not what I ordered, September 9, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This rod is not a bad little set-up. I fish for Trout is small creeks and rivers and so far it has worked well for that type fishing. However, I ordered one with a multi-bearing drive. Just make sure you double check what you're ordering and you should be fine. For the money, it is a pretty good little reel and the rod is holding up fine too.
