Great Reel, Decent Rod, Awesome Price!, April 20, 2011
This review is from: Daiwa Fishing Combo D-Shock Dsc-3B Spin Reel and Fiberglass Rod (Sports)
While the rod is very well constructed, the handle/grip just feels awkward to me. Could just be a personal thing though... Otherwise, this is a great combo, especially the reel. While certainly not as great as some of the higher-end reels, at nearly 1/4 of the price...the quality and performance that you get is without-a-doubt awesome.
Overall, it's much better than any Shakespeare/Zebco/Ugly Stick combo I've ever picked up. It's a great setup to bring camping/backpacking when you don't want to mess up the high-end pricey equipment.

Great rod., July 2, 2011
This review is from: Daiwa Fishing Combo D-Shock Dsc-3B Spin Reel and Fiberglass Rod (Sports)
Great rod for the price. Dependable brand. It does not come with line though, so make sure you buy some to put on. Rod has pretty good flexibility for trolling on a boat, casting etc. No problems with reel at all.

Take me fishing!, June 27, 2011
This review is from: Daiwa Fishing Combo D-Shock Dsc-3B Spin Reel and Fiberglass Rod (Sports)
I bought this set (5 feet ultra light) a few months ago, and I really enjoy it. I am fairly new at fishing, so I did not want to spend a fortune on equipment. I previously purchased the inexpensive sets at discount stores like Wal-mart, and even an inexpensive set at Cabela's. This set outperforms all of them. Since the reels on the previous sets are what have broken, I ended up with several rods but no usable reels. Funny how you can get a combo for cheaper than just buying a new reel (in many cases).
I decided to try this combo, since I thought it was great deal, and I have heard great things about the brand. I loaded the reel with 6 pound Berkley Trilene XL Filler Spools and have had no problems at all. I have caught several trout using this rod and reel combo. I would recommend this combo to anyone who has a little experience with fishing, and is ready to try a new style of reel. The reel is a little bit harder to use than the pushbutton type, but it is very easy once you get the hang of it.
