Daiwa will stand behind it! :)

I decided to keep it b/c the return/replace failed to produce a "spanking new" box and I did not wish to lose out by returning for refund.

The reel casts nice and the line spools off very well with this size of line for me.

Just wanted to share my experience with DAIWA as a whole ! This company is outstanding! They stand behind their products and really take customer service to a level not seen very often any more. We bought a very expensive Daiwa rod at a fishing show. Paid Cash. No Receipt. Rod had a hairline crack in it. Sent it to Daiwa with explanation and they replaced the rod. No arguements. Just superior service. Comfort knowing that if you buy one of Daiwa's products .. you dont have to worry.. Daiwa will stand behind it! :) FISH ON!

I use mostly for salt water fishing. Drag system is excellent with power handle for pulling fish out of kelp. Have used for Calico's, White Sea Bass and Yellow Tail.

I bought this reel after reading other reviews and I am pleased with it. There are many models of the Lexa, so I arrived at the 300HS-P after reading other reviews, and still wondering whether I made the right choice. When I received it, I was shocked at it's small size - super light at 11.3 oz but with a pretty hefty 22 pound drag capability. For most of my fishing needs, 200 yards of 50 pound braid should be plenty, but I did debate buying the 400HS-P for greater capacity. I've had it out once in freshwater casting heavy spinners (don't need the 50 Lb braid there) and two times rock cod fishing in 160 - 180 feet of water and have hauled in some pretty big fish with it. It has a "power" handle which feels good when you hook a big fish and gives you some leverage, but with the 7.1:1 gear ratio, you better have a strong arm if you hook something large. The 400PWR-P may be a better choice if you need more capacity and a more powerful gear ratio (5.1:1) for bigger fish, but the versatility of the 300HS-P model makes it a good choice if you're looking for a lightweight yet strong all-around reel. I like being able to reel in fast to check bait and 180 feet always seems like a long way down - a little less so with this reel's 7.1:1 ratio. The thumb-operated spool-release works great. I really like the Magforce cast control system as it prevents backlash, but it does take some fussing around to get it set properly to the line/wind/lure you are using. The user's manual is really deficient in IMO. I didn't realize that my spool tension was set too high and ended up thinking it was the Magforce settings. Magforce just didn't seem to be working.Read more ›

Wow
Diawa i am impressed with your reel. Soo smoothe, fast retrive, nice powerhandle and casts like a terminator. I have fished about 700days in the last two years and have used all sorts of reels and equipment and this reel must be one of best reels i have ever fished with.

Absolutely Hot Reel. I have heard of guys wearing out the aluminum handle at it's fitting to the gear shaft. I remembered it, as my handle is beginning to get "sloppy" at this same point.
However, the wear seems reasonable considering the pounding I've put on it. I used it last year trolling for salmon. I mostly used it for trolling with one pound lead balls, but several times I used two and a half pound weights. I caught a lot of salmon in the 12 to 20 lb. range. This reel is slightly larger than most freshwater bass reels. I will order a couple replacement handles and see how it holds up. It's an awesome reel with an amazing amount of smooth drag strength!

Very smooth first of all, feels great on your hands. i love the ideal of having a bigger handle. hopefully the future baitcasters are like that. better than the curado

This is my first bait caster and didn't really know what I was getting myself into, but boy, I'm glad I did. I haven't completely set this spool control up yet, but it casts very well, with very little issues - i.e. any bird nests that standard overheads are prone to.

This is used mainly for saltwater Snapper fishing and hopefully the odd Kingfish. It's on a Shimano Backbone Elite 8-10kg bait caster rod which seems ideal for it.

I really like the power handle has it means you can really crank the reel when that big ones hits and feels very comfortable.

I spooled it with 30lb Sufix 832 and fit exactly 200m. I reckon 20lb might be a bit better though if you're fishing lightish.

This is an excellent reel and highly recommend and fighting the urge to buy another!
