I bought this reel for several of the men in my family. They were all thrilled with it. It was a big hit with everyone and I received big marks for choosing the strikeforce casting reel so I am giving it big marks too!

It is a nice smooth solid reel. Anti backlash feature works very well. Don't be afraid of a baitcaster reel. Practice your cast's and it will let you put your bait where the fish are!

I bought this reel for an avid fisher friend of mine for Christmas. Before he opened it he showed up to my house with the exact same one in hand he had bought locally (different brand). I had him open this one and he loved it. Even returned the one he bought. He has test casted it too and says it is great.

Avid fisherman more than 30 years - have 3 Strikeforce reels: 2 with faster gear ratio 7:1 and one 100H with 6:3 ratio. Both reels have served me very well - you can see me catching some decent bass with them at my youtube channel [...] With prices rising to ridiculous levels for reels with one or two more ball bearings it is nice to see that decent equipment is still available below $50 - I also have 3 Diawa Procaster reels - another good value. 2 thumbs up Diawa!

I bought this reel pretty new to daiwa reels... and based on other reviews I have reason to believe that i got a bad reel. Right out of the box i was pretty surprised to find a very solid, well designed reel, upon closer inspection i even noticed that it came lubed and oiled right out of the box... this was especially surprising due to the fact that even my higher end shimano baitcasting reels didn't even come lubed... Although it looked good, felt solid, and was oiled and lubed right out of the box, I believe this was to compensate for the reels flaws... first time out on the water, the reel casted pretty smooth , for about an hour then i started noticing loud noises coming from the reel when casted. While looking into this problem i had realized it was the magnetic braking system, me being very comfortable with baitcasters I turned the brake system completely off. This took care of the sound. Soon after my castability was greatly reduced to no further then maybe 25 feet, i had set the spool control for the precise lure weight so i didn't understand why this was happening, so i loosened the spool control knob very low to where it almost would fall off. This took care of the casting but by this time i had already made up my mind to send it back. The day was still not done though so i kept using the reel until, I found another problem. every few casts the reel would make a very loud grinding noise that stopped the lure probly less than 5 feet away. I thought either this might be because of how loose i set the spool control, or that the thumb bar wasn't completely engaging. One of my suspicions were justified as when i tightened the spool control the noise didn't go away. I finally got done fishing and decided to inspect this last problem closer. I first took all the line off the spool and started engaging free spool by pushing the thumb bar in. I then would spin the spool with my finger, and i came to the conclusion that every 4 or 5 spins the spool would just stop and sometimes grind a couple times due to little momentum, this is what was causing the very loud and obnoxious grinding noise. I sent the reel back and definitely did not opt for a replacement and instead got a refund and ordered the shimano callisto which is in the same price range, this reel was also a joke (i will be making a review of that reel as well). I will from now on stick with higher end baitcasting reels. Take my advice, if you want a baitcasting reel to perform its best go with a reel twice and even better 3 times as much as this reel at least. All in all i would stay away from this reel, and better yet stay away from amazon completely, this was not the first time a defective product was sent to me through amazon... In fact its happened probably over 10 times. amazons costumer service is great, but it doesn't matter when the products you receive are defective or not what you have ordered. I will not be ordering anything from this website again, unless i believe 100% that when i take the product out of the box it will be in perfect working condition.
