I bought this in the 33-litre size for my middle and high school sons. They are entering 7th and 9th grade. These packs are PERFECT! I also ordered similar sized packs (>or= 33L),but somehow they didn't fit my kids' books and binder as well. Maybe it is because this pack is made for students and the others, although of similar volume, were made for hiking, etc. My kids can get a 4" binder and 3 large, thick text books into this bag. And, they can even squeeze a spiral notebook or 2 in! And that's just along the bottom. There is room on top of the books for a lunch and or rolled (or stuffed in) hoodie (sometimes both, depending on how many books they need to bring home on a given day.

LOVE the fleece-lined sunglass pocket on the top front. My older son likes to wear sunglasses, as a fashion accessory, to school. Also, the insulated pocket is a handy place to stick a beverage to keep it cool longer on hot days. But, I do feel that to be really useful, this insulated pocket should be larger. There is also a middle pocket, behind the smaller insulated pocket, with places to stick pens, pencils, etc. There is a smaller zippered "pouch" in there, as well, for "valuables."

Another great feature of this pack is that it has straps that extend horizontally from the arm straps, across the wearer's chest, and snaps closed. This is especially good for when my sons ride their bikes with a heavy pack. The chest strap keeps the pack from sliding sideways and throwing the rider off balance.

Measurements of the 33L Dakine Campus pack:
Bottom Width: 9 1⁄2 in
Middle Width: 13 in
Top Width: 10 in
Depth: 8 in
Height: 21 in
Strap Length: 16 in
Strap Drop: 15 in
Handle Length: 7 in
Handle Drop: 1 in
Weight: 1 lb 11 oz

Love this backpack! Purchased it for grad school, and it has everything I wanted and needed in a pack, plus more! The design is great, plenty of room to hold everything, and I love the "cooler" pocket that holds my lunch. Great quality. Comfy arm bands with cushion. LOVE THIS BACKPACK!

I work in a major city and have to commute by train. I got really tired of stuffing things in my purse and having it disorganized by the time I got to the office. This bag literally carries everything I could ever possibly need, and it is really sturdy yet comfortable. Here's the breakdown of my typical use...

Main compartment: Laptop, notebook, sometimes a textbook.

Sunglass compartment: Sunglasses if I carry them (they're fairly large and I was really surprised at how much room there was for them), otherwise I'll throw my cell phone, lip balm, and hand sanitizer in there.

Storage compartment: Small bottle of contact solution, travel-size ibuprofen, two tampons, my emergency inhaler, a couple pens, and a small card wallet.

Lunchbox compartment: This is was the most pleasant surprise with this bag. It fits a lot more than I thought it would. I'm able to pack a sandwich, a couple of snacks, and a can of soda with a little cooler pack.

Two side compartments: Water bottle in one, umbrella in the other.

I had purchased a Dakine tote before and loved the quality. This backpack is no exception as I have nothing bad to say about it.

A really nice bag for a really good price. Even paying its MSRP of $55, it's still a bargain. I'm sure Dakine could've gotten away with charging in the $70+ range for it, but I'm glad they pass the deal onto us. I didn't think I would use the cooler pocket, but I've used it nearly every day. I can't say enough about this bag - it's big, roomy, perfectly priced, well designed, pretty, fits my 14" Lenovo perfectly including books and above all, it's comfortable to wear. I've also found myself using the chest strap, it really comes in handy.

I'm more than pleased with this bag, I just wish I ordered something a little fancier than black, maybe the gray or the green one, but it's still gorgeous. May order a second one for some variety.

This pack is good quality. I saw a dakine in a store and decided it was the pack i wanted to try next for school. The price and the size seemed perfect so i ordered it and looking at it I was very pleased. I opened up and loaded it up for a day and was immediately done with this bag. The design of the laptop sleve is very good and protective as it holds your laptop off the bottom of the bag so it does not bump the groud when you set it down. But the pack has NO back support. The entire back of the bag buckles with a laptop and books and becomes incredibly uncomfortable wearing a U-shaped pack around campus. I also think they should consider a strap that secures the laptop sleve because when walking with this pack on, my laptop constantly bounced back and forth knocking into my back. Spend the extra 20 bucks and get the 101! It wont disappoint.

I have been using my son's icky high school backpack for about 12 years and decided I needed to upgrade for an upcoming trip. I looked at a lot of backpacks online and I think I picked the best. My favorite thing is all the compartments. And, particularly, the one that has a place for pens, my phone and some dollars bills for tipping. It's a good size and that's what I wanted. I love the molded straps and the chest clip that helps it stay in place. I wouldn't have minded a waist strap, too, but could live without it. It fit perfectly in the overhead bin of the airplane. I had to pack extra shoes and an outfit as I was heading straight to a party from the airport. I used it the whole weekend and it was nice to have everything I needed - which would never have fit in a purse. The other thing I love is the compartment for sunglasses. Very nice and accessible. I didn't use the lined food part, but it was nice to have for future outings. I did use both side holders for water and juice. The only thing I would have added is an outside compartment against my back to hold thin documents that I could just grab. But it was just opening one zipper (I'll have to learn which zipper opens which compartment!) and there they were.
