This item is made of cheap plastic. It works ok. Although if you are trying to chop anything more than a tomato it feels like the thing is going to snap. I was chopping a green pepper and the spring for pushing the food all the way through broke. I would not recommend this to anyone. Spend more money on a better quality product. My first one had broken pieces in shipping. The first time I used it (non broken parts) it cracked all the way down the main chopping guide. I notified amazon and Lovede did send a new one immediately. Although after receiving the second one I realize it's the quality of the product and should have asked for a refund.

I have the regular Genius Nicer Dicer which I simply cannot be without. I use it almost every day (with a small, but clever modification by my husband when the little plastic thing that holds the "pusher part" in place broke). The only reason I got this one was for the cucumber slicer (which they could add to the other one by simply making one more attachment piece--I wish they would! I am quite impressed that in spite of firm whacking many times a day, the main plastic parts are not broken and the blades appear to be as sharp as ever.

This one, however, is disappointing. I am using it some, and it has MANY features that could be useful. It is not made very well. The plastic is not nearly as heavy duty as my other one, so I don't think it will last very long. Each time I use the cucumber slicer, I have to get out my pliers and put one of the blades back into place. It has some very good ideas in the engineering, and Genius would do us all a favor if they made it slightly bigger, heavier plastic, better construction, etc. I love that it all stores in it's own box, and that it has it's own cover which you can put over the "holding container" where the vegies go. When I do use it, I don't "whack" nearly as hard as I do with my bigger one, and I won't try to do really dense things like carrots with it.

I am actually using it's grater every day now, for lemon rinds (which I am now adding to all my salads, etc.). It began to rust under it's edges the first time I washed it, but that part does not touch any food, and the grate-size is just perfect for lemon rinds.

I will keep it (at least until I get completely fed up because I have very little space). It certainly is not a replacement for the better one.

The blades are sharp, it's very intuitive with lots of features. I was able to make a bowl of fries from 4 large potatoes in about 20 seconds flat.

I was very excited to purchase this item, however it was a disappointment when it arrived. It does not work properly. The cutters do not cut.. th to that you press down on nearly broke in half when i tried using it. It was a toamtoes... it wasn't even a harder veg/fruit.

I must have the knack for using this correctly because it does a great job for me. Here are some tricks to get great results. I have bought all the iterations of this product over the years because it works so well for me. One bowl version was just too big except for a big salad for company though. I use it but not often. This is the right size for most everything. It's easy to store and most of the included extras are very useful. I don't use the peeler or the little grater because I have other ones of those I like better, but for chopping, the inserts are great.

First of all, you have to cut the items to be chopped into a size that will fit on the grid you're using. That grid has to be on placed at the back of the unit below the upper grid with the button that is used afterward to dislodge any particles that got stuck up there. Cutting the items to fit within the grid has never been a problem for me as I don't have to be precise, just make sure they don't extend beyond the grid blade or you won't get a clean cut.

Second, place things like green pepper or celery skin side up to get the cleanest cut. Third, you want to use a sort of mini karate chop motion when lowering the lid to make a cut. I always get a clean cut the first time. Pressing it gently and firmly won't work. You have to sort of whack it down. That may be too aggressive for a man, but I'm pretty strong and have used this thing hundreds and hundreds of times with nothing breaking or cracking.

The wedge tool works better that I expected. I use it mostly for small tomatoes, but it works for lemons and limes too. Cherry tomatoes do best on the grids. Larger tomatoes have to be a bit firm. Very ripe ones are too soft and juicy to chop well.

If I was a big family, three meals a day cook, this would be a five star item. I like to do a bunch of onions, peppers, and celery ahead so I have them ready for soups and other recipes. I measure each item into 1/4 cup increments and freeze them in ziplock bags. So I only use the 1/2" and the 1/4" cutters. For me the rest is just a lot of stuff to try to keep track of. Sometimes more is not always better. On the other hand- - - the blades are very sharp and as long as I put one hand in the middle to make the pressure even across the top, it cuts very well. With the button on the top to push out all the little particles that has been caught, it is very easy to clean. I never wait to wash this in the dish washer, but wash immediately after I use it; that way it is super easy to clean. I quite often will cut up a 20 lb bag of onions at a time. So I am never without my dicer! Maybe I should have put five stars!!!
