I picked this book up at a B&N for $7 and was instantly hooked. The book contains paragraphs of wisdom related to different topics: Pain/Suffering/Patience, Anger/Forgiveness, Karma, Happiness and many other subjects.

What I really love about the book is that it is so grounded and down to Earth. The way the wisdom is shared is as if he is having an intimate conversation with a good friend. His quirky personality shines through and makes it very easy to resonate with if you enjoy watching him or listening to him speak. His innocent and peaceful perspective is

I keep the book on my desk and refer to it randomly throughout the day. It is wonderful, heartwarming brain-food and I hope to enjoy this book for a really long time.

Dalai Lama is one of the most respected and beloved religious figures in the World today. Through his cheerful demeanor, charming sense of humor, and deep spirituality he has won admiration and respect of millions of people worldwide. He has transcended the limits of his own religious background and has managed to appeal to people of all spiritual and intellectual backgrounds.

This small book is a wonderful collection of some of Dalai Lama's most inspiring quotes and reflections. The book is organized thematically around chapters dealing with different spiritual topics, such as "Love", "Happiness", "Compassion", "Teachings of Buddhism", "Life, Death, and Rebirth", and many others. The book will appeal to anyone who seeks deeper spiritual insights regardless of their religion. Of course, not everyone will appreciate all that Dalai Lama has to say especially about the more "transcendental" topics, but it's still worthwhile reading those quotes in order to better understand where is he coming from. In fact, if you have never read anything by the Dalai Lama then this slim volume would be a good introduction to his teachings and beliefs.
