This book teaches us to have compassion, forgiveness and love for mankind and the it teaches very practical ways to diminish or abolosh jealousy: (pag 175) : admiring one's own and others'virtues serves as an antidote to jealousy, and he also teaches the virtues and wisdom of the golden mean= the middle way school, which means that not everything is black and white , that sometimes it is better to choose the middle path or that sometimes both parties have some truth to what they are saying , so it is bette to incorporate some of those truths into the final compromise to live a more successful life. The Dalai lama also explains (pag. 196) that to be more realistic we need to be more: open and FLEXIBLE in our mental attitudes , thinking and habits, then with these teaching in mind we can become more prepare to be able to overcome the un-real ILLUSIONS that we have about orselves and to overcome the distorted ideas that we have about others and also with these teachings and explanations we can also increase our Emotional Intelligence . This is one of the more in depth books on Buddhism by The Dalai Lama. It is not full of photos, it is not filled with simple concepts. It provides an erudite view of the most salient teachings in Buddhism.

Very worthwhile if you are already familiar with Buddhism.
