A book containing some very interesting sketches by the Master Salvador Dali ,
many people won't like of the overtly sexual nature that many of the drawings contain
but there are a number of fine examples of depth of his talented sketch work.
While Dali took the art of self promotion to Ad nauseam , he still is considered by most to be the technically greatest artist of the 20th Century

The presentation of the book itself is interesting with the ribbon closure
but it is unnecessary and will be damaged eventually while stored on your bookshelves.

A nice piece for the Dali collector but it is not a book I would recommend for all.

As with others in this series, the authors have done an enticing job of collecting and reproducing the parts of a master's notebooks that don't often appear. This series includes a number of very classical nudes, including a stunning pencil drawing of his wife and muse, Gala. One or two display the simple fact of a couple coupling. The majority, however turn to the direction that only Dali could see, ranging outward toward some imagery that might leave a queasy feeling to anyone imagining a physical form of what's drawn

Also as with others in the series, the back cover lies way too close to the front. The brief essay at the back adds little, at least to my enjoyment, and the beribboned, die-cut cover adds a precious touch - in truth, I would happily have foregone that in favor of a lower price. Beautiful, but not a must-have.
