5.0 out of 5 stars The best industrial album of 2003
Razed in black have always taken a bit of a different approach to industrial music. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as others
While This Album Is good on it's own, It is not as good as the others. This album is more dance/trance then industrail which disapoints me. He did such good industrail. If your a fan of the band get it. The second disc makes up for alot of it. If you are just geting into the band get his third album sacrificed. It is better.

Razed in black have always taken a bit of a different approach to industrial music. They used to be a little on the harsh side, with crunchy speed-metal style guitars and lots of screeching bleeping synth noises that kind of layered and formed a backdrop. The beats have always been fabulous and the lyrics, though quite disturbing, are intelligent and poetic. One of the most innovative bands to come into the electro scene in years. Then along comes Damaged. This is a little more on the poppy side of things, but only because the production quality is much better than on previous albums. You can hear the influence of the multitude of different groups in the genre that helped write and produce this album. The beats are infectious, the lyrics are tantilizing. This is a club-rave frenzy in a box. I have never heard anything quite like it and expect I never will again, unless R.I.B out-do themselves whith their NEXT album. A must have for anyone who likes Dance electronica/ industrial/ trance and the like. The remix disc is also pretty good, though I like most of the originals better, the remixes are different enough to make the second cd an entity of its own.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good release from RIB, October 27, 2003
This review is from: Damaged (Audio CD)
Razed In Black has to be one of my favorite bands I have discovered over the last couple years and I was excited to get this release. I do have one major gripe with Razed In Black however, what the hell is with all the high end on all the RIB CD's? I DJ at three different clubs so a lot of people might not ever notice what I'm talking about, but you put any of their discs into a club's sound system and its a battle of the high end.

With that said this is a great CD, as a DJ I find myself playing the following songs a lot.

Blush
Am I 2 Blame
I'll Damage You
Visions (A23 mix)

The disc also includes some nifty live video and really made me want to see RIB live.

As both a industrial related music fan and a DJ I would recommend adding this CD to your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprised, October 3, 2003

It seems like many people either love or hate this release, due to the styalistic diversion from past RIB releases. I personally love how the band has mixed all their styles into one release, by that I refer to the style of Transmutator, dj RIB and DJ skOOby. They didn't limit themselves to any particular genre and as a result developed a beutiful hybrid. When I first got the CD when in Boston i didn't stop listening to it for a month, every time I listen to it I find little bits that i didn't remember from before, it's like a new CD everytime. This release is a great deal, it come with two discs, one of original releases, the second filled with remixes and two videos. All this for a price less than most regular CD's. If you want to listen to track samples check out www.razedinblack.net .

4.0 out of 5 stars Nowhere near as good as Sacrificed, June 15, 2005

I bought this album the day it came out and I have listened to it over the last two years. Well, I have to say that this album is not as appealing as Sacrificed, which had more of an organic sound to it with the guitars and beats and such. To me Damaged is almost too techno for me. I loved Razed In Black for the heavy guitars, the angry vocals, and the dark evil lyrics. Damaged is more tame in terms of the music style it portrays, even the guitars sound like a keyboard effect, and there is very few on here. He definitley sings more on this release and is way more melodic, and mellow and dare I say...more accessible. But I'm not mad that the album is this way. Romell is a D.J. above all and his first love is obviously electronica, which makes this albums programming stellar. The only reason that I am disappointed in the end is that I wanted another heavy album and this album is not heavy, unless you count the non-stop bass drum. Even Shrieks, Laments, and Anguished Cries is better than Damaged, and I think that album was pretty boring too. I am not a fan of straight up techno, which is what most of this album is, so it will collect more dust than all my other cds thats for sure. Stick with Sacrificed...its flawless and the only one you need. Remember, this is just a personal opinion....if you like techno I do totally recommend this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing album, trance elements boggle your mind!, July 27, 2004
This review is from: Damaged (Audio CD)
Especially if you listen to the album Sacrificed after this one. The change in music style just boggles my mind!

But to this one, I love the trancey elements they have incorporated in this release. The way Share This Poison ends, just screams trance.

Yes, I know this is supposed to be a Goth/Industrial band, but it seems like with this release, they are just testing the waters of trance elements, and in my opinion, if they made a pure trance album, it would rock. Seriously.

Shining points on the album are Blush, Share This Poison, There Goes My Head....ummm....the whole CD. I loved every second of this CD. Highly recommended to any Razed in Black fan, whose mind is open to some change. Granted, this album is NOTHING like Sacrificed, but both, to me, scream Razed in Black. Different sides maybe, but both are awesome.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid, Sultry and Darkly Erotic, July 26, 2004
This review is from: Damaged (Audio CD)
I've been listening to industrial/goth music for over 10 years now, and I'd have to say that this album has been one of the most influential in my vast collection. It made me look at myself, my life in retrospect; it made me evaluate who and what I am. Very grateful for that. Yes, this album is pretty much flawless, especially with "There Goes my Head" and "Come Back to Me." I believe Rommell Regulacion is one of our greater deejays of the times-he has a way of bringing you into his own S&M hell-which I will visit daily, thank you! *laughs*
Regarding his past albums, Regulacion extends RIB into a newer, trancier version of its former self. But don't let that fool you into thinking this is merely just another EBM record. It's not-it's empowering, erotic and exciting to listen to, so save a piece of your soul today and get this album! I command, go....now...

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful..., September 3, 2003

This is my first Razed in Black album and I love it! This is exactly what I've been looking for recently. I don't consider myself "goth", but more of an industrialist. I hate and despise the so-called "goth" scene that's become over played. This is heart-felt lyrics sung over hard dancing beats with even a few guitars wailing over the electronic sounds. It's like Trent Reznor dropped some ecstasy, and started belting out industrial music over pounding trance beats. Great music, now I'm gonna go order the other albums from these guys!

5.0 out of 5 stars Industrial Grist for Your Mind Mill, June 24, 2004

This review is from: Damaged (Audio CD)
My latest indulgence of Razed In Black "Damaged" has proven to be a spectacular sequel to "Sacrificed" If you know IN you know what I mean. Toss Reznor, Metallica, VNV, and even a little Zombie and the best heart crushing industrial beat you can find in a rip blender and you have Romell Reglacion and the Black entourage. And to think this dude is from creating this incredible industrial sound in Hawaii. I bet a cover of Tiny Bubbles" by RIB would be better than the rush of monster tubes on the North Shore.

These discs haven't left my changer since they arrived and I'm investigating a bigger amp to pound out my favs- "Blush-V2 & Blush Neikka RPM Mix", I'll damage you", "Misunderstood", "Nevermeant-v2". And the rest of the second cd remixes are outrageous.

"Come back to me" is the most fluid of the tracks with a slower BPM but one cannot live at 120+ all the time.

I can't wait for my "Oh My Goth" special remix buy to get here.

A "must buy" if your into Industrial, messing with your neighbors and raging until dawn.

4.0 out of 5 stars oh my goth, June 1, 2004
This review is from: Damaged (Audio CD)
...damaged, is by far rommel regulation's best RiB work. each song is composed brilliantly using darkwave and industrial elements. each song tells a story of love and lies, at least thats how i took it. "visions" will make the price of this cd worth. best tracks are by far "visions", "ill damage you" and "blush". "come back to me" is the song most people would skip ( i know i do at time ). it lacks the RiB power that keeps me coming back for more. this abum is definitly a must-have for RiB fans or fans of darkwave all together.

"damaged" is the VERY best, industrial, or other wise CD I own! If you like f***able music, then make "Damaged" your new lover. It's so magnetic that when I listen to it, I feel as though I'm cheating on my significant other. "Damaged" fuses sweet remorse and undertones of deep desire in a way that is immaculate. It is audio heartbreak, lust and omnipotance all in the best sixty-two minuets and ten seconds since falling in love for the first time. Razed IN Black captures the essence of industrial in this CD and if you need a reason to wake up "Damaged" will give you it to you!!!!
