Customer Reviews

I am very pleased with these gloves.

So if you wipe your snotty nose with them, hey even just to blot the snot, you will have a permanent reminder on your floppy clown gloves.
Jimmy Ray Purser
These gloves did not keep hands warm in zero degree weather even with liners inside.

I live in Minnesota and for most of my life I have searched for gloves that can protect my hands at very low temperatures. The Damascus DZ9 gloves are not adequate protection for temperatures below 20 degrees. In fact, at 25 degrees for one hour, I had to remove them to warm my hands in my pockets.

I tried these gloves out for a while not expecting them to outlast or out perform any other glove, and although these gloves do run a bit small like other reviewers said, they are great gloves, and do as they say, they have a great liner which keeps your hands warm, but these are by no means going to keep you warm in Antarctica for 10 days straight out in a blizzard. They exceed my expectations, and they exceed 95% of other winter gloves today, I was impressed by the quality of glove as well, and was impressed that a relatively unknown company to those who are not glove fanatics could create such a high quality glove. Definitely recommended, and if you don't believe me, just try for yourself. I'd say if the only thing about this glove others could complain about is the sizes running small, than its a good glove. Good day!

I purchased this glove with the intention of wearing it on duty during a Wisconsin winter. The pictures make it look like the fingers are a lot smaller than they really are, which was where I had a problem. I wore the glove outside to test it out in -4 degree high wind conditions and I didn't even feel a hint of a chill.

I tried manipulating my duty weapon (in my case a Glock 17) and this is where I had issues. The fingers are just too cumbersome to work the mag release or trigger effectively. I actually couldn't even get the trigger finger into the trigger guard area.

Otherwise a great glove.

What can you say about a glove that not only does not keep hands warm, but that when worn actually make your hands colder? After the horribly cold winter in the northeast last year, and the endless days of painfully cold hands, I wanted to be sure I had a very warm glove. I read reviews for dozens of gloves, and the reviews for these suggested that they might be what I was looking for. I will never trust positive reviews here again. These are not only the most worthless gloves I have ever owned, they are the worst gloves I could have ever imagined. My hands literally felt colder as soon as I put them on. It was as if they were drawing the heat out of my hands. In fact, what they were doing was constricting blood flow to my fingers, because these are not just a little tight and don't just run one size too small, they run several sizes small. My hand is usually a large, but never an extra large. My fingers are actually rather thin. But the fingers of these gloves, in the EXTRA LARGE size, were so narrow, that it was as if I had tied a tiny tourniquet at the base of each finger. Even without the circulation issue, the cold is immediately transmitted through the material of these gloves (don't be fooled by words like 'specially designed' and 'patented.' Any fool can design and patent a piece of crap). This material is cheap, and the rubberized-plastic velcro wrist closure is too stiff to be functional and is constantly catching on things and pulling open. I hope damascus is serious about their 'guarantee,' because I fully intend to take them up on it. Don't believe the positive reviews here. They must have been written by people that have never experienced sub freezing temperatures.

Just for standard winter wear these gloves are very warm and comfortable. However, for actual sub-zero temperatures like for use in freezing conditions, they do not hold up. Definitely not worth the price, as comparable gloves could be bought for much cheaper.

I wanted to buy a pair of gloves that were warm enough to handle sub-20 degree weather while maintaining finger dexterity. After reading the reviews of the glove and hearing how tight the gloves fit, I ordered a size larger than normal (usually wear a L, decided to get an XL) and I'm glad I did. The XL's even fit me a little snug, but I'm sure with use that the leather will stretch and form to my hand.

Other than the sizing issue (probably due to the insulation inside), Damascus made a solid product. The gloves are well manufactured and are made of high quality materials. The full leather palm has good tack to it and doesn't feel like it will cut or tear easily. The backing is some sort of neoprene-like material that stretches well when balling up your hands or grabbing tools to work with. The cuff is a little too close to the wrist joint, which for some can be a nuisance, and the velcro closure is hard to get tight around your wrist, as the opening is alot bigger than most gloves. The liner has a nice feel to it and stays in the glove, unlike other liners in gloves that tend to pull out of the fingers. The feel of the glove is a little overstuffed, but I was surprised at how much dexterity I still had when I started working with them. Initially, they felt like they needed to stretch out a bit before my hands could get real comfortable with them.

I first used them while changing a tire in sub-20 weather with a northern breeze and they worked just as they are intended to. My hands stayed warm and dry, I was able to screw the lug nuts off and on while losing little dexterity. The gloves took the abuse well and showed no signs of wear.
