5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful inspiring film for the entire family, April 1, 2006
This review is from: Damien, the Leper Priest [VHS] (VHS Tape)
With Ken Howard, Mike Farrell, David Ogden Stiers, William Daniels. et al.

From the back of the slipcase:
Over one hundred years ago a young priest (played by Ken Howard) arrived on the Hawaiian island of Molokai with hopes of becoming the island's spiritual leader. But Molokai was no ordinary south seas paradise...it was the home of a tragic and forgotten leper colony which no one dared to enter.

Based on an inspirational and uplifting true story, DAMIEN: The LEPER PRIEST is an incredible account of a courageous man who risked everything when no one else would help. From the beginning it was an almost impossible task. With no medicine, no decent food, housing or even fresh drinking water, Father Damien struggled against incredible odds to help his people. In time, and with great effort and sacrifice, his determination paid off, changing the lives of the colony inhabitants, and sending a humanitarian message that reached clear around the world to a society entrenched in fear and prejudice. Beautifully filmed, with an all-star cast.
