I really enjoyed this book. Dr. Boone gives his readers a heart-felt understanding of what it feels like to have a disability. I laughed. I cried and I wanted more. Hopefully, there is a sequel in the making.

Now, I knew that Dr. Boone had been in the profession for over 50 years, and I knew he had authored numerous textbooks. What I didn't know was how beautifully he was able to relate his stories from his life experiences in dealing with stroke, dementia,and misc. voice disorders. He brings these real characters to life, thru humor and tears...I felt like I was right there watching each of the stories unfold. Thanks to Dr. Boone for opening up these experiences for all to see, and showing how moving it can be to make an impact on the lives of others in such a unique way!

Like his wilderness explorer forefather who happens to share the same name, this pioneer in the field of communication disorders has quite the yarn to tell. Involved in the profession since its earliest days, Dr. Daniel Boone highlights many unusual encounters during his 50+ year career. This book should be of interest to professionals as well as to the general public. It covers a wide variety of speech, language, and voice disorders. Each new topic is introduced with a brief overview, followed by numerous examples of successes as well as stumbles along the way. Told with a lot of wit and honesty, this book is indeed hard to put down. Its only drawback is that it has to end so soon. I find myself asking for more damn shoes.....
