Damn!! That DJ DID MAKE MY DAY!!!,
By "vytooooo" (Dayton) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Damn That DJ Made My Day (Audio CD)
RICHARD HUMPTY VISSION, known for his progressive mix style packs 34 innovative house tracks into 60 minutes of listening with this latest compilation album, DAMN THAT DJ MADE MY DAY. The album which I believe, represents VISSION's most dynamic work to date. For DAMN THAT DJ MADE MY DAY-his eighth album, second for Tommy Boy-VISSION enlists special guests DJ Swamp, the 1996 U.S. DMC turntable champion who has recorded with Beck, Morcheeba, and The Crystal Method, as well as Chicago house chanteuse and turntablist DJ Mea. For the raver kids and hard house fanatics, the hands will probably raise highest for the Ferry Corsten/DJ Tiesto track "Gouryella (Transa Remix)." Deep house heads will probably want to skip to the end of the CD, where the BPMs drop down, and the mixes get longer with tracks such as "Finally" by Kings of Tomorrow featuring Julie McKnight. Filtered disco heads will jump to moments such as Static Revenger's "Happy People" and Conga Squad's "I Lost It." Somehow or other, Vission -- aided at points by DJ Swamp and Chicago house diva DJ Mea -- manages to unite it all with a flawless mixing technique and firm grasp of dancefloor dynamics. The multi-dimensional RICHARD HUMPTY VISSION has emerged as an innovator of house music and has revolutionized the industry with his eccentric style of mix, and this CD Truely Deserves 5 Stars!

RHV rocks the house,
By montie (St. Louis, MO USA) - See all my reviews

I thought the CD was awsome. I really liked RHV's song selection. I thought his mix of House ain't given up with Phat bass was extra cool. I liked how he went allover the place with the cd. He has some hard house, funky house, and deep house, with some trance thrown in for good measure. I think he did a really good job of mixing all these things together. He did use a bunch of tracks I've heared many times before, but they were all really good tracks, and he did a great job with them.

I was pretty excited to see RHV having a new CD out. Although his last CD "Shut the f**k up and Dance" was "mixed" together with neck-breaking speed, it still managed to get me pretty pumped up. His new effort is good, however it doesn't have the energy that his last CDs have had. It tries, but I think the music selection is lacking in most aspects. This isn't to say I didn't enjoy it, because I did. However I was looking for something with a little more kick. I am also disappointed to see him depart from the hard crunching Chicago style of house and trade it in for more of a trance flavor. Maybe next time. :) DamnDJ

This review is from: Damn That DJ Made My Day (Audio CD)
This CD came highly recommend from a friend deep into House music and at one point very much into the raver culture. Hands down the best house music CD I've ever heard and owned and RHV's best effort to date. This one is one my favorite CD's in my entire collection.

This was my first Humpty Vision CD (picked up after being impressed when i saw him live in NYC). The first time i listened i was dissapointed. However, the more you listen to this cd the more you like it. It became my favorite house/hard house cd i have, but I've now listened to it so many times i really can't get into it anymore. "I Get Live (fat boy slim mix)" to the end of the Dj Mea track is 5 minutes of pure ectacy. Overall, the energy really builds for parts of the cd but always seem to get ruined by a off track.

Wow. I had a chance to see this guy live, at Earthdance 2001, and his track selection there was even more diverse than this cd, although technically just as good.Variety is the spice of life....and RHV's definitely spicy! :)
