1.0 out of 5 stars Damned Boring
I cannot find anything positive to write about this book as the writers must have been totally uninspired and perhaps under duress to produse such work. The plots are excuses around which some sexual encounters take place, but these unerotic encounters are described like a recipe taken from a cookery book; a bit of oral sex, a bit of straight sex and so forth. I can't...

4.0 out of 5 stars A delightful three-course meal for lovers of erotic romance, July 3, 2008
This review is from: Damned, Delicious and Dangerous (Aphrodisia) (Paperback)
Damned, Delicious, and Dangerous is a collection of three erotic, paranormal tales that serves as a three-course meals for lovers of erotic romance.

In the first course, "The Demon Lord's Cloak" by Delilah Devlin, we meet an innocent girl who is in the wrong place at the wrong time, and the dark, arrogant lord who wants her for his own. Voletta enters a tavern in Daemonburg because she's lost her cloak, but she doesn't realize that she will become a sacrifice that the villagers deliver once every century to keep their town from eternal damnation. She is delivered to Damien, Lord Malphas, a brooding stranger who remains trapped in his castle with only his 100-year-sacrifices for company. As human women don't generally live that long, Damien spends a lot of time on his own. Luckily for him, Voletta isn't human.

In "Night Sins" by Lisa Renee Jones, the heroine is a Watcher, a warrior who is sworn to protect humankind from the creatures who walk the night. The Council Kayla serves would like her to work alone to defeat the evil that roams the streets. But when a group of women are murdered who are all connected to one man, a vampire named Ethan, Kayla decides to defy authority and go to the source for help. It isn't really her fault that Ethan is the one male with the ability to rouse her passion. And though Ethan wants nothing more than to keep her safe, he finds it's hard to keep a kick-butt, take-charge woman like Kayla from doing exactly what she wants. With his first instinct being to protect her, Ethan and Kayla join forces to find out who is behind the murders. Night Sins serves as the main course in this collection--it's fulfilling, but it really just leaves you hungry for dessert.

And dessert comes in the form of "The Devil's Paradise" by Megan Kerans. The Devil's Paradise is The Last Resort Hotel, a place where the wanton and soulless are drawn to live out a weekend of decadence. The hotel manager, Dash, is there to maintain order, and to clean up the messes left by his hotel's depraved inhabitants. When Justice Malloy shows up, Dash is convinced that she isn't as innocent and guileless as she appears. Something drove her to his hotel, and he's determined to find out what. Checking his moral compass, Dash sees that Justice seems to be just an ordinary woman. But as no one leaves the Last Resort until the revelry has ended, he doesn't see any reason why they can't have fun in the meantime.

Damned, Delicious, and Dangerous was an enjoyable three-course meal for lovers of erotica. The Demon Lord's Cloak was a good start to this series. It was short and sweet, but left me wanting more. Night Sins was probably my favorite of the collection, but only because it made me curious about the characters enough to want to check out Jones's other work, which is the primary reason I read anthologies in the first place. And The Devil's Paradise was a sweet ending to an otherwise red-hot collection. I enjoyed these stories separately and together, and would definitely recommend this collection to a friend.

4.0 out of 5 stars three lighthearted paranormal exotic romances, June 1, 2008
This review is from: Damned, Delicious and Dangerous (Aphrodisia) (Paperback)
"The Demon Lord's Cloak" by Delilah Devlin. Voletta is the sacrifice left naked and tied for the fallen angel Damien to devour. However, instead of the usual fear he sees in the women dumped on him, she welcomes his touch.

"Night Sins" by Lisa Renee Jones. In Las Vegas, Ethan the vampire and Kayla the watcher know a relationship between them is taboo by both their species; however, neither can resist the lure of the other.

"The Devil's Paradise" by Megan Kerans. Dash gave away his soul centuries ago leaving himself condemned for eternity until he meets wedding planner Justice who plans a gala at The Last Resort Hotel, but nothing is like she expected when she meets the soulless one.

These are three lighthearted paranormal exotic romances starring likable female humans who go after DAMNED, DELICIOUS AND DANGEROUS hunks with no fears in their hearts.

I'll rate by the author for each short story.
Delilah Devlin's- It's ok. Not very hot. Story kind of boring.

Lisa Renee Jones- Well at least the character was hot. Better than Delilah's. Actually this one was pretty good- I am usually pretty hard on this author. This was the best I've read from her.

Megan Kearns- A couple hot scenes. Not bad at all. I liked this one too.

Should have rated 3 stars, but I messed up.
If you can buy it on sale, then do it. Otherwise, wait.

I cannot find anything positive to write about this book as the writers must have been totally uninspired and perhaps under duress to produse such work. I can't recall the characters' names or the stories as they were so inconsequential. I skimmed through most of it and regret the money paid. Unfortunately this is a disadvantage when buying books on line. You don't get to browse enough to judge whether the book is one that you"d be interested in reading

5.0 out of 5 stars Damned, Delicious and Dangerous, May 13, 2009
This review is from: Damned, Delicious and Dangerous (Aphrodisia) (Paperback)
"The Demon Lord's Cloak" by Delilah Devlin

Voletta is traveling through the forest one day when she loses a fur that is very important to her. She stops at the local tavern to see if anyone found it and soon finds herself bound and delivered to a strange residence.

For a thousand years, the village people have been providing Damien with brides. None of them, however, have intrigued him the way Voletta does. He feels an instant bond and hopes she does too.

But neither Voletta nor Damien are human. Will the love that develops change them forever?

I enjoy tales of tortured heroes, and "The Demon Lord's Cloak" fits the bill. I enjoyed watching these two characters get to know each other, and had fun discovering their secrets along side them. "The Demon Lord's Cloak" is an interesting start to this anthology.

"Night Sins" by Lisa Renee Jones

Ethan, a vampire, knows the Blood Brothers are behind the recent killings of young women in Las Vegas. Finding the evil vamps to put an end to it is a different story, however.

Kayla, a Watcher, knows that vamps are off limits, but when she comes to Ethan's lair to discuss the killings she's as attracted to the vampire as she's always been.

They're both searching for the killer, in a different way, and when their paths cross again it turns into a life or death situation, tossed with a great deal of desire.

"Night Sins" is a hot, tasty tale of a forbidden love. Both Ethan and Kayla know they cannot be together, but neither of them can resist the other. That little tidbit made for some electrifying reading that inspires goose bumps. This story is a great addition to this anthology.

"The Devil's Paradise" by Megan Kerans

Justice Malloy is searching for a venue for a wedding reception when she comes across The Last Resort. When she arrives it's obvious some sort of party is going on. Even though she doesn't have an invitation the doorman lets her in.

Dash Wilde is a devil. He gave up his immortal soul and now he's doomed to run The Last Resort, a place where wantons and the damned meet for sex. Can Justice's love save his immortal soul?

"The Devil's Paradise" has an interesting premise, but I couldn't make a connection between Dash and Justice. A little more buildup in tension between the two of them before things turned sexual would have increased my enjoyment, I think.

Damned, Delicious and Dangerous is an interesting collection of paranormal tales. Readers who like their sex hot, and their men immortal will enjoy this anthology.
