5.0 out of 5 stars must have for humid homes
I need these in my humid, humid South Florida apartment. I also don't have a vent in my bathroom so after a shower it can get pretty mildewy. But these prevent any bad odors.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works okay
I put this in a closet that seems to have a mildewy smell from past problems with dampness. It seems to work okay. I would say it cleared up the problem by about 75%.

This most certainly pulls moisture from the air. Lasted several weeks. I need to buy a refill.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product!, October 10, 2010
This review is from: DampRid FG60 Refillable Moisture Absorber, 2-Pack (Tools & Home Improvement)
I've used damprid in every home for years in multiple rooms. It does what it says. Sometimes I forget to put it in a room - the room may smell musty and like mildew. Within 2 days of using damprid - the smell will go away. The closet hanging ones are nice - but I prefer the refillable tubs to lesson the overall cost. Remember, you have to be intelligent, I've read so many reviews where people seem to expect that they will SEE activity immediately or where air is flowing freely, that it will suck the humidity from air is it passes through the room. It takes a few days and depending on the weather, it may take up to 10 days to see water collecting. Obviously, if humidity doesn't "collect" in a space, it won't be absorbing anything.

Also, check it every week - especially using it for the first time - you can't expect to leave it unattended. The sediment that may form on the bottom is easily removable with hot running water (I even use the "DampRid FG91 Any Room E-Z Fill Absorbing System with Pouch" and the sediment just melts away with hot water). The rest of the liquid, pour down the drain.

When considering multiple damprids to replace an electric humidifier - do it. It's cheaper in the long run, will only take out moisture when there is moisture, and won't increase energy costs.

Pros - no mildew damage, lowered health problems, better smells, besides bending and lifting - no energy cost to dehumidifying your home.
Cons - you have to follow directions, check it weekly, be patient.

Overall - the pros of using damprid compared to the cost of mildew damage - health wise as well - far exceeds whatever foolish mistake you can make (spilling it, overfilling it, ignoring it) while using the product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Damp Rid Worked for me, August 6, 2010

I bought the Damp Rid 4 months ago to use in two closets that smelled musty. The damp rid worked for about 3 months. The smell completely disappeared and my allergies improved. I was looking at this today today to buy another pack to replace the original set. I highly recommend this for use in closets.

I do love this product, I am using this for my second time and I am satisfied every time. I keep this inside my closet to keep my clothes dried and it does work! It lasts about 30days and it is very easy to install. Definately buy this product!

4.0 out of 5 stars They Work., September 8, 2011

I live in Mississippi. The humidity here is indescribable. So, if you have the slightest air leak in your home the dampness also creeps in... Well the Dampness has attacked my closet. I will say this... This is not an instant fix, as in you put it in the room and poof, dry air-no smell... no, this works more slowly, but they do indeed work.

If you have a damp area in your home I do suggest you try these. If you consistently change them out and keep them in that specific area then they will indeed do as they promise. Save your clothes from water damage, Get this :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Very Well, September 25, 2010

I give this product five stars because it did exactly what it said it would do. I used this product in my basement in two seperate rooms. Within a few days you could see moisture absorbed but not yet collected in the bottom of the container. Within a few weeks there was a few inches of water and after 60 days all of the damprid product was gone. I could not rate this product less than five stars because it absorbed moisture from the air just as the product was described to do. I am buying refills now. There is no bad smell and the water collected is clear. If your AIR is dry it will NOT work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for, September 8, 2010
This review is from: DampRid FG60 Refillable Moisture Absorber, 2-Pack (Tools & Home Improvement)
I live in an apartment that the bathroom has no windows. Sooo all of our towels smell like mildew after we use them. I bought this product and within the first couple of hours the mildew smell was gone. It says they last about a month. So stock up. You can't go wrong.
