5.0 out of 5 stars Indescribably beautiful; a transcendent experience, November 2, 1999

I popped a tape of "Reflections" into my car stereo this morning for the commute to work and quickly entered a calmer, gentler rush hour than I had encountered before. Listening to the simple, rich music while looking at the gorgeous autumn landscape delivered my spirit to a much mellower place than the highway my body was cruising. (I had to be careful not to get too mellow; those red taillights come up fast in the race to work.) I recommend this for times when you need assistance becoming calm and centered, when you are doing your yoga, or when you are perched on a hillside loving life.

I own both Refletions and Solo Piano, and never tire of listening to either one. When I play either album in my office, I am immediately asked who the artist is and where can they get the album. As soon as you hear the music, you are trasported to a beautiful and peaceful place. Dan is a very talented artist. I can't wait for he and Tom to put out another album.

You have a dedicated fan in Indiana! - Mb

I heard one of DanChadburn's songs on internet radio, "Companion" and knew I had to buy the CD ! Love his keyboard style, and the oboe and French horn weave beautifully into several of the songs. Recommend this CD!!!

This review is from: Dan Chadburn Reflections (Audio CD)
Dan Chadburn's second album of impressive piano pieces quickly went from being an exciting discovery to one of my "Top 10 Favorite" albums for 1999. Four tracks include strings, flute, and/or horns, and eight are solo piano. The closing track, "Stay With Me" is one of the few vocal selections on otherwise instrumental albums that I really like. In most cases, for me, these songs seem awkward and out of place, but "Stay With Me" fits in very nicely and brings this excellent collection to a warm and tender close.

My favorite piece on "Reflections" is "Shifting Sands", a pensive and somewhat somber solo piano work. The meter changes several times during the course of the piece, giving a sense of questioning or perhaps confusion. Passions rise as the piece develops, and then quiet to a feeling of inner peace. Pieces like this make my fingers itch to play them!

The title track is a lovely, wistful opening to the CD - reminiscing set to music. "Dream Catcher" is also a gentle, flowing piano solo. "Nightfall" is a soothing duet for piano and viola. "Amazing Grace" seems to be to the late `90s and early 2000s what Pachelbel's "Canon in D" was to the `80s. I've reviewed three albums in the past few months that included it, and all had a lovely interpretation that was different from the others. Dan's "hymntune improvisation" on this beloved hymn is fresh and contemporary while still true to the song's sacred roots. "Invitation" is perhaps the most upbeat song in this collection. It is full of changing themes that dance and sing and maybe even plead a little bit. "Companion" is truly a love song with strings and horns gently underscoring the emotions expressed so beautifully. "Farewell" tugs at the heartstrings. Summed up in a single word, "Wow!"

The warmth and sincerity of Dan Chadburn's playing and composing are refreshing, soothing, and inspiring. I am so happy to have found his music, and look forward to seeing what else he has up his sleeve!

5.0 out of 5 stars My Reflection, November 27, 1999
This review is from: Dan Chadburn Reflections (Audio CD)
Thankyou for sharing your music with with us. I've just gotten done listening to "Reflections" for the tenth time in as many days. Each time I listen I'm struck by the intense emotions that the melodies bring out in me. I feel the power and comfort in the track "A Mother's Love" and "Companion" brings me back to all of the special people who have touched my life. Great job with "Stay with Me". Abby won't stop singing it. I'm proud to pass "Reflections" on as a stocking stuffers to my closest friends. Keep the music coming!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just take a deep breath and let this music touch your soul., November 21, 1999

This review is from: Dan Chadburn Reflections (Audio CD)
Few CDs I own have such a soothing influence on me as does "Reflections". The music is truly inspirational and evokes a very personal, emotional response. Listening to the CD, the music envelops me and takes me to a place where I can calmly reflect on a day's events, free from outside influences. This is a CD you will want to share with family and friends.
