Dan Fogelberg has been releasing wonderful albums for almost 30 years now, and this collection of "greatest hits" dates back to 1982, i.e. it only spans the first ten years of his extraordinary career. I highly recommend you get the 4-CD boxset "Portrait" instead - which includes all of the songs on the album (in some cases remixed or in even better live versions). "Greatest Hits" is a wonderful introduction to the timeless music of Dan Fogelberg and will leave you wanting for more, so go for the "big" Portrait collection straight away.

OK....see if you can make sense of this...my favorite bands are Radiohead, the Cure, Bauhaus, Talking Heads, Kraftwerk, and Dan Fogelberg.....so, where does his sound fit into this genre' of music? IT DOESNT...i just happen to love this guys voice and his tunes....my favorite one on here is Same Ol Lang Syne...oh my god, i melt when i hear this....i have to admit, lots of his music is sentimental to me due to my childhood, but i listen to him pretty much every night when i go to bed..i think his music is beautiful......Peace :)

Last night was New Year's Eve. Being the geek I am, I broke out my copy of this cd so I could listen to "Same Old Lang Syne." Awesome song!

Well, naturally, I then had to listen to the whole cd. I'll tell ya - there's not a bad song on this album. It's got all of Dan's biggest hits. Dan's a very talented guy. He may be best known for hit ballads like "Longer" and "Leader Of The Band," but Dan could really rock, too. Great examples of this are the songs "Part Of The Plan" and "The Power Of Gold." They both really jam!

I know very few people my age (30-something) who don't own a copy of this cd. Still, age is irrelevant here. If you like great music, you should own this great cd.

I remember seeing Dan Fogelberg in concert when I was about 15 or 16 years old. Awesome! After seeing him in concert, I became a fan! The power of his music and song have deeply touched me! Everytime I hear "Leader of the Band", I am moved. It's such a heartfelt tribute to his father. Every picture tells a story--and Dan tells a fine story behind each song. To sum this album in five words or less: Beautiful and Relaxing!

Im not going to get into analyzing the art of critiqing a greatest hits compilation. I dont have to. This is one that if you dont already have then you would not understand anyway. My favorite is "Heart Hotels", but "Power of Gold", " Make Love Stay" and the annual favorite of "Same Old Lang Syne" will most certainly get you in replay mode. Its hard to resist the acoustic, piano, sizzling lead guitar and sax that make this album a rocker and a roller, if you know what I mean. Any romantics out there listening. The lyrics may be the best attribute of this "must have", which to me seems to be perfect for sharing with that special someone before a fire and during the heat of passion as well. Dont miss out!!

I came of age in the madness of the mid 70s. Like so many of my age, I lived my life through the songs I heard on radio. Dan was a clear and beautiful voice of reason, forgiveness, loss, longing, love and letting go. I always felt that he looked into my soul and wrote only for me. I will miss him terribly, but have his art to listen to and live by as I enter my 50s.
This album captures most of my favorites. Part of the Plan is a lesson I still try to live daily. The poignancy of Same Old Lang Syne reminds us how hard is to let go of the past, and yet how impossible it is to recapture it. He's been a part of my collection through vinyl, 8 Tracks, cassettes, CDs and MP3s. Whatever format comes next, I know I'll own this album in it.

It doesn't get a whole lot better than this! All of his finest songs are on this disc making it great to listen to from start to finish. Few people have been able to match his amazing song crafting abilities. Leader of the Band is an emotional tribute to his musician father, while Longer is a classic love song that is still common at weddings. Another great track is Same Old Lang Syne, which chronicles memories of lost love. Ths truly is a work of art not to be missed- make it part of your collection.

If you like Dan Fogelberg, you will like this CD. As the title says, it is a collection of his greatest hits. Soft rock fans will thoroughly enjoy this CD. What more can I say about it...

Dan Fogelberg's music put down a foundation of poetry sung to open one's mind and heart. He was a brilliant performer. I am honored that this man had his music out in my generation and I am deeply saddened that his life was taken away by cancer. This CD is a treasured keepsake to his memory.

This CD is a collection of Dan Fogelberg's greatest hits. Check out the (possibly) autobiographical "Same Auld Lang Zyne," which recounts a chance encounter with an old flame. Also memorable are "Longer," and "The Leader of the Band," the latter of which is a moving tribute to Mr. Fogelberg's father. I love music that tells a story, and this album doesn't disappoint, with each song telling a tale of love and/or pain.
