Essential and Inspiring,
By Mark M Campbell (Palo Alto, California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dan Janal's Guide to Marketing on the Internet: Getting People to Visit, Buy and Become Customers for Life (Paperback)
Finally, an Internet marketing how-to book that truly delivers what's promised on the back cover. It's well-organized, written in clear and non-technical terms, and chock full of useful advice and web site addresses. Where appropriate, Janal includes case studies.I found many useful strategies and tactics in each of the six sections (Online Marketing Strategy, Online Selling, Promoting Your Web Site, Creating Customers for Life with One-To-One Marketing Programs, Online Marketing Tools, Online Media Relations). I highly recommend this book to both e-entrepreneurs and marketing/promotion managers of small and mid-size companies.

The Internet Goldrush,
This review is from: Dan Janal's Guide to Marketing on the Internet: Getting People to Visit, Buy and Become Customers for Life (Paperback)
Marketing on the internet reminds me of the California goldrush of 1849. There's plenty of money to be made out there but if you don't get there in time you'll be out of luck.I'm new to marketing. I was asked by an internet based training company based in Chicago to write a proposal to market their web site. I knew nothing about marketing. My expertise was in web design. I got on Amazon.Com and started reading reviews on books about internet marketing. The reviews for Dan Janal's book were very favorable so I decided to buy the book. I read throught the first few chapters and already knew what to put in my proposal. We are now getting an investment banker to lend us $50,000.00 to develop and market our web site. I've also started my own business on the side and will definitely implement the techniques that I've learned from this book into the development of my own business. There is a limited time where you can get into your niche on the internet. I feel that Dan Janal has enough experience doing this himself that anyone who follows his advise will be able to get into their niche and become the next Amazon.Com.

This review is from: Dan Janal's Guide to Marketing on the Internet: Getting People to Visit, Buy and Become Customers for Life (Paperback)
I found this book to be a good read---I actually read it on vacation. I read a lot of business books and I've become a "master skimmer", but this one I read word for word. The book is now full of my notes and lists of actionable items that I can really implement. I appreciated the case studies, writing style and lack of "Internet hype". I would certainly recommend this book for anyone interested in getting the most from their Internet marketing efforts.

I have read over 30 marketing books, I own a online direct repsonse company which does millions in revenues. There are still many things I learned after reading this book. Janal is a visionary with a great feel for the e-game!I reccomend any one reading this far to buy this book. If you give a man a fish he eats for a day, teach him to fish and he eats for a lifetime!

You have nothing to lose!,
This review is from: Dan Janal's Guide to Marketing on the Internet: Getting People to Visit, Buy and Become Customers for Life (Paperback)
This book covered a broad range of useful information - particularly for those new to Web PR & internet marketing, or those of us who are in the field and frequently suffer information overload. Along with an 'arsenal' of weapons, case studies etc, there are some tried and tested techniques which are too good to miss. A full review is posted at Free Pint, another great resource...Thin on Web PR specific techniques so grab Poor Richard's Internet Marketing book whilst you are here if that is what you want, and check out the Guerrilla Marketing books. However you look at it, this is one to add to your shelf if you are planning to learn all you can to make a success of your online presence. And to the reviewer who thought it only covered the marketing basics, let's face it, the Net isn't that different, but this book manages to clarify the differences there are between trad marketing and getting it right on the Net.

Dan Janal's Guide to Marketing on the Internet has become my bible for managing an online campaign. He offers advice on topics including crisis communications, measurement, e-mail techniques and interactive PR and media relations. I reach for his book as frequently as I go for my AP StyleBook. It's a user-friendly, how-to succeed guide. Janal's Guide makes a call for action that your customers are bound to respond to. This book is among the industry's best.

Still Useful?,

This review is from: Dan Janal's Guide to Marketing on the Internet: Getting People to Visit, Buy and Become Customers for Life (Paperback)
I must admit to being very skeptical. I read it, but given the staggering bursting of the dot-com Internet bubble, I have some severe doubts whether Janal's book is as relevant or just plain right as it was when he wrote it. It was published in 2000, so Janal probably finished writing it by 1999. Before the bursting, then. The Internet still has its uses, but an Internet-only strategy? eBay might do it, but if AOL is having troubles . . . I liked Levine's Guerrilla PR: Wired because, despite the name, it combines both Internet and non-Internet strategies. Janal has some good ideas and his examples are good ones, but I'm fairly certain not in the way he intended them to be.

I read "Dan Janal's Guide to Marketing On the Internet." I think its an extremely different marketing book because it does not say, do banner adverting you will earn. In fact it goes right to the root, as to how a company on the net should be formed to be successful. Your book has been a real eye opener.

We are a permission email marketing service company, in order to promote the web site for an Association..., I picked up a copy of Danal's latest book to read on my backpack trip in Colorado over this July 4th weekend. The book is one of the treat! on top of the nature, smell of the pine trees, the cool breeze, the lakes and the tough beef jerky..... Janal provides excellent information to cover all fronts of Internet Marketing from PR to search engine tips. It's a joy to read Janal's book!

This review is from: Dan Janal's Guide to Marketing on the Internet: Getting People to Visit, Buy and Become Customers for Life (Paperback)
As a small buisiness owner, I have been struggling with the job of driving traffic to my website. This book has helped me focus on my marketing problems, and so far I think that the techniques outlined in this book are effective. Another great read is M.Levine's Guerrilla P.R. Wired - all about the Internet.
