5.0 out of 5 stars ROCK/FUNK?...WHAT'S THAT ABOUT ?, August 28, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Dan Reed Network (Audio CD)
Oh Dan...where are you? The world needs real music in a time of boy/girl bands, two note dance acts and sixty minute remixes of the same song!! Waaaay back in 1988, this album was released and was way ahead of it's time. Now we had a mix of musical styles, all superb, gathered together on one disc...there is a God! Here we have crashing Rock guitars, Progressive keyboards, Rap, Dance, classic piano...all held together by the distinct voice of Dan The Man. From the rap intro of 'World Has A Heart Too' with it's strong message, straight into the Billie Jean style guitar riffs and absolutely superb melodies of 'Get To You', right through to the arena style rock of 'Rock You All Night Long', this album delivers BIG STYLE. It doesn't matter what musical style you like (if you're into pigeonholes!), everything is catered for. Whether you like Toad, Hootie, Journey, the funk of Level 42, the hooks of Michael Jackson (but not the squeeky voice!), Aerosmith, Blue Oyster Cult...they're all here; but they're different. The Dan Reed Network (now sadly split), combined styles effortlessly...if you didn't like rap, just wait a second. There you go - now were into rock mode. Oh no, wait a minute - now funk mode. It's effortless. It's music for the nineties recorded in the eighties. It's intelligent music for people with no bias. It's music for ANY taste. It's The Dan Reed Network.

WOW!! A band which scorches right out of the CD player onto your lap -- this is one of the great mysteries of the late 80's and early 90's why this band did not become huge.

Don't repeat the mistake. Listen to some of these tracks on your Real Player and then click "Add to Cart".

5.0 out of 5 stars nightshade94, September 2, 2002

Back in my last years of high school I had the pleasure of seeing this band live in a small collage gym in Mt.Vernon Washington. The weather had been horrid they were advising people not to travel, so even though it was nearly sold out hardly anyone showed. Rather than cancel the show about 50 to 70 people got a private performance. Man they rocked. I was 16 and still remember them talking to us before and after the show, as though we had all known each other for years.
The music though wow! My favorite song on the collection album is "Rainbow child" But I am quite sure any music by them will be awsome. Twelve years later my 8 year old loves them and is begging me to buy a Cd because the tape is so worn out.....you will NOT be diappionted. They rock!
