Editorial Reviews

Review

"In Periodical Photographs, Dan Winters does what he does best: photographing iconic figures with exceptional consideration... Periodical Photographs is a comprehensive compilation of iconic figures by a talented artist, and definitely one for your collection." --HotShoe

"Some of the best and most vivid portraits from his first two decades of work have been collected into the book." -- Steve Appleford --The Los Angeles Times

"[his subjects], the Hollywood actors, rock stars, world leaders, invariably think the time [with Winters] well spent because, while the portraits may not always be flattering, they are usually memomorable and, as a new monograph of Winters's work shows, often stark and poignant." --The Daily Telegraph

There's something about these photographs. I found myself staring at them a long time. Like there were many layers to them. There is definitely a natural history feel to the photographer's work. It's almost like his studio was set up in the back room of a museum. The images capture so much of the subject. And the style is so elegant and pure that the images have an amazing depth. I don't think this book will ever leave my coffee table.

A fascinating combination of personal and assignment photography that is truly an inspiration for any visual artist or person interested in photography. His images are thought provoking, timeless and unpredictable. With every turn of the page you are tickled with images that surprise and inspire. Even celebrities who are constantly photographed are shown in a completely different and more revealing way. By looking at his images you can tell that a lot of soul and heart went into the making of these photographs. Dan is one of the most unique and skilled portrait photographers working today. This book is a classic photo book and is a must have!
