I purchased this kit to work on my 1994 Lincoln Mark VIII. It mentions in the description that this kit is for rear brake pistons that need to be turned to be pushed back, but it will work just fine with other types as well. An adapter is included to allow for this without damaging the pins.
The quality of this kit is top notch. Everything from the tool to the case is high quality. The latches and hinges on the case are sturdy and feel unlikely to break. The adapters fit well, and the magnet built into the end of the tool is powerful enough to hold things together, but not so powerful that you need to pry the pieces apart. The inclusion of instructions on the inside of the case lid is a nice touch. I found this tool to be vastly superior to the AP kit I had before and the Harbor Freight kit that I have/had. I snapped the HF in half and bent the AP tool trying to push back one of the pistons in my car, while the K-D had no issues with the same piston. The price difference may be substantial, but the first time you can't get the cheaper tool to work and you need to walk to the parts store, it's money well spent.

My '03 Mustang GT, I bought new over 7 years ago finally needed new rear pads. I had replaced the fronts over a year ago. The Rear Caliper pistons, don't just PUSH in like the fronts, they have to TWIST, and be PUSHED. The reason for this is the Park Brake is part of the caliper. Well, I've heard you can use Pliers, or this LITTLE Block you can buy at the part store. Neither would work, so I returned the Block and searched and searched, for a REAL Brake Tool. Finally I bought this one. And I'm glad I did! It was still TOUGH using it, getting the pistons back in. But it worked GREAT, and had a positive feel. I didn't have to worry about damaging anything. And I felt secure using it. Maybe 7 years is the reason it was soo hard to get the pistons back in. But, with two Mustangs, this tool is going to pay for itself, and I think it already has. It works with MANY makes and Models. So, I don't know how others could do it with just Pliers or that little Block, beside the chance of the damage they can cause to the Boots and or Pistons. This is NO CHEAP-EE tool. I was going to go with Harbor Freight, but I didn't want to take any chances. This KD Brake tool is the one.

I bought this item from Amazon after using it as a loaner from a local auto parts store. I'm glad I did!
This kit enables you to easily push back the piston in front and rear brake calipers. The rear is especially important because it needs to be pushed and turned at the same time. Failure to do so results in severe damage to the caliper assembly. This kit does exactly what it should. It comes with a number of adapters to fit most applications, as well as a "flat" adapter to make the front calipers cooperate even better than using the trusty C-clamp. It's also made very well, I plan to hand this down to my kids years from now. This will save you tons of frustration, time, and cursing. And don't bother with those "cubes" out there that supposedly accomplish the same task. It did not work on my volkswagen, but this handy kit worked beautifully!
