Hey, I love Chaka & have all of her CDs, but this is a BIG RIP OFF from Warner Brothers!!! The only RARE remixes on this OVERPRICED import CD are the Extended Vocal Mix for 'Tearin It Up', and an instrumental mix of the same song!! All of the other songs are not hard to find, and they aren't even remixes for the most part!!Don't waste your money on this!!! TRUST ME!!!! Peace S.D. from 'Chaka's World'

This CD is definitely worth buying for the two versions of Tearin' It Up. Yes, the other songs are a dime a dozen on other Chaka releases but Larry Levan's remixes of Tearin' It Up are so rare that any Chaka fan or anyone who loved Paradise Garage would need this CD just for that song. As far as I know, they had only been available on 12" until this CD came out.

The price is pretty steep but buying it used can soften the blow.

How can you ever not be delighted,stunned,and elevated by Chaka? From the absolute believability of the classic "Im Every Women" wherein she sings to climatic assurance that she is indeed every women to the undieing dedication she bellows in "Through The Fire". My favorites on this CD,however,are: Tearin' It up"this hot rockin' dance tune gets the toes a tappin',the knees to bopping,moves you out of your seat and into a kind of primordial ritualistic celebration of dance. "Pass IT ON /Sure Thing" is a hard throbbing syncopated rythmn with Chaka's high reeling vocalizing and deeply soulful lyrics not to mention the beautiful blaring of the horn section. This cut will become an immediate Favorite. Missing from this copilation is a few cuts that were on the 1982 first released album entitled "Chaka Khan" which could have been destined for classic Khan "Be Bop Medley:Hot House/East of Suez(Come on Sailor)/Epistrophy(I Wanna Play)/Yardbird Suite/Con Alma/Giant Steps"; "Best IN The WEST" and a very MichaelJacksonesque "Gotta Be There". Even with the exclusion of these superb cuts, "Tearin' It Up" will most assuredly tear you up with complete pleasure and total satisfaction of rocketing vocals of CHAKA KHAN.
