5.0 out of 5 stars What an album!, January 26, 2001
This review is from: Dance the Devil Away (Audio CD)
I bought this cd many years ago, but it has consistently remained one of my favorites. I'm not a huge fan of "world music," but this album is just so wonderfully beautiful and exotic. The music varies between the airily light-hearted and the darkly romantic. This disc is also a blessing for those unfamiliar with the didgeridoo, a simple instrument with unbelievable range. The 'doo, along with guitar, violin, and numerous African percussion instruments, creates an incredibly unique sound that has to be experienced. Buy this spectacular album, and look for Outback's other release, "Baka."

5.0 out of 5 stars Relaxing & stimulating;simple & complex;4 novices & experts, December 23, 1998

Outback's first CD Baka was pretty good, but Dance the Devil Away outshines it brilliantly. There is a lot of variety on this one, from melancholy melodies to buoyant rhythms. Cradick is truly a skilled guitarist and musician (even if he does play an Ovation), as is Graham on the didgeridoo and LeMercier on the violin. The great mixture of instruments works very well, creating an original sound. Definitely a great investment. If it was a choice between Baka and Dance the Devil Away, I'd get Dance the Devil Away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intoxicating rhythms and a novel sound, July 22, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Dance the Devil Away (Audio CD)
Who would think that a didgeridoo and an acoustic guitar would blend so well? Dance the Devil Away and Baka (Outback's debut) are two of my very favorite CDs, and certainly my favorite "world" music. These guys manage to mix Celtic, African, Middle Eastern, and Aboriginal influences into a funky collage of sound. Dance the Devil away indeed! Makes you believe that the world really does stand a chance.
