5.0 out of 5 stars Another BOMB from Devito!
Level 3 in Louie's series of Dance Factory releases is full of probably the biggest hits to come this summer. If you listen to the radio you will recognize half the songs on this record. The cd starts off with Danzel's "Pump It Up" which is probably the biggest dance hit to come out recently as it's being played in all the clubs. Some of my favorites would definetely...

2.0 out of 5 stars Much less than what I expected
I bought this CD after reading praise reviews at PerfectBeat.com and sampling the songs figuring getting this compilation will eliminate the need to buy certain singles. Some great songs included here like hard-to-find Deborah Cox song from Aida, Monica's "Get It Off," Benni Benassi's "Illusion," LMC, Narcotic Thrust, "Summer Jam," etc. However, many songs have been...

2.0 out of 5 stars Much less than what I expected, September 29, 2004
This review is from: Dance Factory Level 3 (Audio CD)
I bought this CD after reading praise reviews at PerfectBeat.com and sampling the songs figuring getting this compilation will eliminate the need to buy certain singles. Some great songs included here like hard-to-find Deborah Cox song from Aida, Monica's "Get It Off," Benni Benassi's "Illusion," LMC, Narcotic Thrust, "Summer Jam," etc. However, many songs have been butchered by jumping to vocal parts and skipping the instrumentals (which are in the mixes for a reason, othewise radio versions would be just sufficient). The transitions seem rushed. I totally agree with some other reviewers that transitions are not smooth and especially that the sound quality is very very poor. For the lack of a technical term, the sound is just flat, as if the disc is recorded in mono.
I would not stay long on a dancefloor if this mix was playing. I am so glad I bought this CD used.

Save your money and get a Bad Boy Joe CD. He's the guy who mixed all of Devitos cd's anyway. don't believe it? Look at any of Louie's cd's and see for yourself. Edited by Bad Boy Joe means he did all the mixing. Why do you think everyone says Bad Boy Joe's cd's sound like Devito? Because he mixed them all. This is why this cd is so awful, no joe. All you stubborn people, just keep feeding this guy's ego.

1.0 out of 5 stars poor, November 13, 2004
This review is from: Dance Factory Level 3 (Audio CD)
I'm a great fan of Louie DeVito and also bought all of his cds but i wont buy this one because the songs are old fashioned, they were passed from the dancefloors so i think he was drunk when he choosed the playlist... but i know he is the best and he will be back with a great new cd as soon as possible...

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Work For Such Good Songs, October 2, 2004

You see songs such as "Easy as Life" and "I Like It" and "Get It Off" and "If I Close my Eyes" and you expect greatness since this is mixed by Louie Devito. It is almost as like Louie has become the Yankees of Dance DJ's. Anything less than a perfect cd with every song being a big hit and the mixing to be flowing perfectly is considered a failure just like when the Yanks make it to the World Series but lose. This cd rates right now as like the Yankees making the playoffs for another year. You know it was going to happen just like you know Louie's cd will be decent. However, if the Yanks don't win the World Series I will be upset because they have spoiled me for a decade now, just like Louie spoiled us in the past with NYC Underground 1,2,3,4 and Dance Factory. This cd is still better than most out there and only gets three stars because I know Louie is capable of so much better mixing.

This was one of the worst albums I've heard. Very disappointed as I am a big fan of Devito's music.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good song selection, production quality is not good..., September 11, 2004

The song list is good. You'll recognize many of the tunes. Probably my favorite track is "You Promised Me" by Ingrid. Compared to DFL1 and DFL2, though, the production quality stinks. The dynamic range of the songs and/or the stereo separation seems to have been compressed. At times, you wonder if you're listening to a mono CD. I bought this on the first day of release - now, I wish that I had been able to preview the CD before purchase.

Some of my favorites would definetely have to be a nice dance track "Illusion" by Benassi Brothers , switching into house with "Sanctuary" by Origene and then into soft tribal "Just A Little More Love" by D. Guetta. Louie's Dance Factory Level 3 features some nice & slick tracks ranging from commercial dance to slightly harder beats. It's an awesome disc to pop into your car while driving or during workout sessions, fans of Louie's releases definetely wont be dissapointed!

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best, September 10, 2004

This CD is highly recommended for House-Techno-Pop loving listeners. The mix also includes a taste of latin sounds (track 10: Calinda). I would have liked it better, though, if LD had re-remixed or used other re-mixes of the famous songs of Deborah Cox, Monica, Reina, Danzel, Narcotic Thrust, etc. It's not bad that he used the original mixes as I like them anyway.

2.0 out of 5 stars Deluxe edition has some hard to get mixes-but all edits!, June 30, 2005
Sure, it's great to get on CD Deborah Cox, Monica, Wynonna, and Angelo Venuto's Sweet Carolina, which was added exclusively to this "deluxe" edition of Dance Factory level 3 (unfortunately, it's the version that doesn't include this song that is not censored lyrically)...but as most of these commercial mixes do, you are given a lot of tracks in short versions. If you're looking for longer versions of many of the hard to get tracks, stick to series like Party Groove, Global Groove, and Masterbeat. Track times here are:

1. pump it up (5:05)
2. Get it off (5:10)
3. Easy as life (4:58)
4. If I close my eyes (3:42)
5. illusion (4:36)
6. you promised me (4:00)
7. take me to the clouds (6:21)
8. F**k it (4:15)
9. summer jam 2004 (4:08)
10. calinda (4:43)
11. sanctuary (4:09)
12. I like it (6:23)
13. just a little more love (3:59)
14. never be alone (4:35)
15. love comes again (5:15)
16. sweet caroline (4:29)
17. I want to know what love is (3:27)

5.0 out of 5 stars HIGH ENERGY, January 6, 2006
This review is from: Dance Factory Level 3 (Audio CD)
I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. I have always loved high energy music, bpm 122+. This cd is great for a party (have played it and had feet tapping and had bodies moving), also have used it for exercise (treadmill). This cd reminds me of my dancing days at "The Ice Palace" on West 57th street in NYC. Great people who thrived on dancing to High Energy music. I highly recommend it.
