5.0 out of 5 stars Rebecca Rocks!, May 6, 2009

This review is from: Dance Fairies #3: Rebecca the Rock 'n Roll Fairy: A Rainbow Magic Book (Mass Market Paperback)
REBECCA, THE ROCK 'N' ROLL FAIRY is part of an extensive series of fairy books by Daisy Meadows. As part of the Dance Fairies collection, REBECCA, THE ROCK 'N' ROLL FAIRY, is a very short, sweet, easy chapter book, perfect for very young readers (and even younger listeners). Young girls in general and my wee one in particular will really enjoy the adventures of Rebecca and her two human friends, Kirsty and Rachel.

In REBECCA, THE ROCK 'N' ROLL FAIRY, the dance fairies' magic ribbons are all missing from Fairyland. The magic in each ribbon ensures that a particular type of dance always goes perfectly. It seems that the evil Jack Frost and his goblin minions are once again up to no good. They have stolen all the ribbons and escaped with them into the human world...and dances everywhere are going all wrong. Rebecca's special purple ribbon controls the dancing of rock and roll. In this adventure, it is up to two young girls, Kirsty and Rachel, to help Rebecca get her ribbon back. But can they find it in time to keep everyone rockin' 'round the clock?

I purchased REBECCA, THE ROCK 'N' ROLL FAIRY for my four year old because the fairy in this book has her name. Additionally, the fairy Rebecca dances, and her fairy color is purple. Since my daughter Rebecca takes dance lessons and adores all things purple, REBECCA, THE ROCK 'N' ROLL FAIRY is the perfect book for her. She absolutely loves having her very own fairy story. She listens very intently as I read it to her, and asks very perceptive questions. This beginner chapter book is quite short (about 65 pages), and very fast paced. It keeps her attention from start to finish, and we can get through it in about 2 nights. The language is simple and direct, making it very easy for young ones to follow. I can see that when she begins to read on her own in a few years, this book will be an excellent choice for her to start with.

We will be purchasing more of these fairy books. I have discovered other fairy stories with the names of some of her friends. Every young girl wants to be a fairy. This series makes that wish come true.
