Book Description

Prologue

"Do you know what it means to be alive?" he asks.
"Do you understand that life is only a moment, just one moment after another?
Do you understand that?
There is no going back, no skipping ahead, just the moment called now, just the feeling that you carry within you.
Do you realise how much time is lost by spending all the
yesterdays dreaming of tomorrows?
All the 'should haves' and 'could haves' are meaningless.
Tragedy is when you realise this too late.
Tragedy is when the first experience and understanding of this reality comes with the last breath."

Book Description

Inner peace is a lot more simple than you think. In Dance with Life a very modern Mira explores the realm of the heart under the practiced eye of a life-changing teacher. The journey is within, she doesn't even have to leave her front room! Travel with her and you might find that you'll never look at life in quite the same way again.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"A lesson in unlearning, inspiration, wisdom and gentle truth."

Sometimes on one's own personal journey there is a sense of aloneness and perhaps that is why we are drawn to such books - to know that we are not alone and that there is a personal journey that each of us must make. To quote from the book: "Each soul carves its own path."'
It is a long time since a book touched me so deeply. I think "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran may have been the last time and that was in 1986! Other books speak to us but this one knows. --Reader's letter

Inspiration, wisdom, common sense. This book truly touches the heart. --Dr D Holland

5.0 out of 5 stars Dance with Life: JM Hurley - A book about Life and Love, 13 Dec 2011

JM Hurley's `Dance with Life'. A novel about an ordinary working woman, whose meeting with a stranger leads her on an unexpected journey of discovery concerning Life and Love. Centred on experiences set out in different chapters, the author takes the reader with Mira, the main character on a gentle voyage with her guide, the Master. The settings and events are told well and the message of each is easy to understand. I enjoyed reading this book immensely, and know that I will return to different parts of it to re-read.

A really good book that I would recommend to anyone who may be asking themselves `Do you know what it means to be alive?' (Prologue, Dance with Life).

There are some books which will pose questions, this one will answer them, even some you you did not know you had. Life is your journey and as such is an very individual experience. However this book is a very human story which talks to the essence of what it is to be human. there only a few writers who manage to combine food for the intellect with with food for the heart. Read this book it will make you feel better about you.

sorry I'm going to be the first person to not give this book 5 stars! I saw the recommendation for this book on 'The Secret' reviews. Its okay but I didn't like the way it was written, almost like a novel.
I think 'The Secret' is a million times better to read. I couldn't put it down. But this short book took me weeks to read because it just didn't grab me. Saying that, its still worth reading if you want to start thinking more positively about life.

Better than The Secret, 5 Mar 2008
Malcolm (UK) -This review is from: Dance with Life (Paperback)
Someone on The Secret page talked about this book so I got it and I
just want to post here what I said there too:
I like the way The Secret is presented and I enjoyed it. There's
nothing wrong with what it says but I felt that I couldn't get into
the mindset that I felt I should be in to apply the guidelines in The
Secret. I read about The Kybalion (Doreen Virtue version) and Dance
With Life on The Secret page and got both. The Kybalion really helped
me to understand where The Secret was coming from and now I feel I
understand it better. Dance With Life blew me away. A really easy
read, even maybe a bit like a guided visualisation at times, but I
went with it and it really got me to look at my thinking about
everything and now I feel my mind is freed up to actually start again
with The Secret and start to apply it in my life.

Fantastic!!, 17 Oct 2005
A Customer This review is from: Dance with Life (Paperback)
I loved this book. It really flows along and feels very magical but at the same time the learning in it is really practical and down to earth. I keep going back to it and reading bits over again and unlike a lot of these books you can really do or try to do what this book says without having to change your life. Paulo Coelho is one of my favorite writers but I think Dance with life is just as good if not better than some of his books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Happy, Healthy and Wise, 24 Aug 2005
A Customer This review is from: Dance with Life (Paperback)
This book should be recommended reading for anyone stressed out by the pace of modern living. I read it the first time and felt immediately rested, happy and wise. As I completed each chapter I experienced a sense of recognition. Just looking at the cover makes me slow down and take time to smell the roses or play with my children and really enjoy it. I have always known what Mira knows but it's easy to forget it when rushing through life, this book has reminded me of what I was missing.

A beautiful book in which to escape to if you are feeling the pressures of every day life on top of you. The journey of the Character reminded me that there is a world away from work and newspapers, that there is a magical essence to everything we do that I certainly had forgotten about. Well worth a read - buy it, keep it and read it when you have had enough!

More About the Author

Dance with Life came because I didn't have it when I needed it. I was very young when I started on my own inner journey. At that time there were very few books on awakening or on how to understand the process of spiritual exploration.

The books that were there were, I felt, very masculine and very centered on the practical 'how to' as it were, of self development but absolutely nothing on the feeling or the emotional experience.

My question all the time as I journeyed was 'But how should this feel?'

As I developed on my own journey I realized that the emotional connection, this emphasis on the feeling aspect of the journey, although the same for everyone male and female alike, was a vital element for the female journeyer and had been completely ignored in all the books I came across.

The journey for me was (and still is) a very feeling one, almost poetic and beyond words at times. As the heart opens and begins to sing its song, the world changes utterly and becomes an interconnected bliss bubble of colour and feeling, rather than a philosophical theory or abstraction.

It is that change in perception that I wanted to express in Dance with Life. So as a result it is a poetic and lyrical book and it is written with a very feminine bias. Interestingly though, many man have come back to me and told me that they have really connected with it too which is really lovely to hear.

Angel Prayers and Messages came along quite by chance. My friend Rosie and I were chatting about Angels and we both commented that it was impossible to get a nice, simple Angle Prayerbook. We laughed and said we should write one and left it at that. The next day I happened to be talking with my agent and told him about our idea. He rang back the next day and said that a publisher he knew wanted to do the book, how soon could we have it? Without thinking I said within six weeks!! Well six weeks later Angel Prayers and Messages was being printed...

Right now I'm working on something completely different, a children's book series for 6-7 year olds. It's great fun to do and I don't know when it will hit the selves but I've no doubt that when the time is right it will all fall into place...
