"Dance Like There's No Tomorrow" delivers the impossible- top notch composition and improvisation that bridges the gap between young and old listeners and multiple genres.
"Dance" combines the celebratory vibe of New Orleans through the cutting edge lenses of New York and beyond. Some tunes are immediately gratifying, while others shine brighter with each listen, and the instumentation (tuba, organ, drums, sax/bass clarinet) puts this new ensemble in a unique light from the albums first notes. (what a lineup---Jason Marsalis, Gary Versace and Matt Perrine)
Get this one quick and tell your firends. This is the kind of recording that is taking jazz where it needs to be...in the hearts and ears of anyone willing to listen.

Those of us engaged in an ongoing quest for phat bass will be pleased to discover the all-acoustic monster sonics of Matt Perrine and his sousaphone. He handles this hefty piece of brass plumbing, which makes the tuba look small, with swinging ease. (Though it says in the product descrip here that he plays the tuba, he ain't playin' no tiny tuba.) The band expertly cooks through a Nawlins-flavored set that, as the title implies, is first and foremost feets music, but the writing is varied and strong throughout. Gary Versace is excellent on B-3, but it's Perrine's perfectly recorded foundation that fascinates, sure to make your woofers bark with delight. He gets a showcase on the first track, "All Up In the Aisles," that blew my pew out. Great Amazon price, for a change, too.
