"You Are My Home/Refugio de Amor is one of my many favorite songs on the cd. Vanessa L. Williams and Chayanne make a great team. They were brilliant. Eres Todo En Mi by Ana Gabriel is sung so passionately, that you don't have to speak spanish to feel every emotion in that song. This is the most exceptional cd that I will ever own. Kudos to the producers of the cd. WELL DONE!!!!

The Dance With Me soundtrack is amazing! I love to Salsa dance to it! Get this CD for a wonderful selection of Salsa, and more latin music. Once you get it home, you'll start shakin' those hips once you play it! :)

4.0 out of 5 stars awesome soundtrack---a great cross-section of dance songs..., November 1, 2005
This review is from: Dance with Me: Music from the Motion Picture (Audio CD)
I bought this CD, almost immediately after I saw "Dance With Me," in the theaters, back in 1998. Though, the film left me cold, the songs continued to sizzle in my memory, and resonated with my steps on the dance floor.

Some of the best songs on this album include: "Magalenha," a great Sergio Mendes tune that was utilized in the dance competition sequence in the film. It is a lively samba, and gets you up on your feet and moving. "Atrevete (No Puedes Conmigo)" by Dark Latin Groove is an awesome, sizzling salsa, combining the fiery vocals of Huey Dunbar, with the salsa/reggae elements of Fragancia and James "Da Barba." What a shame that those guys broke up........Overall, this CD combines soft ballads with up-tempo dance numbers. It's great background music for a party.

The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the luke warm bonus cuts ("Suavemente" remix with Elvis Crespo--which sounds too repetitive and "Pantera en Libertad" by Monica Naranjo, which just sounds like she is screaming--no real melody).

You definitely need to get this album, as well, because it is just too flavorful to resist!

5.0 out of 5 stars A CD that will NOT dissapoint, February 23, 2002
By
This review is from: Dance with Me: Music from the Motion Picture (Audio CD)
After seeing DANCE WITH ME, and enjoying it immensely, i could hardly wait to own the SOUNDTRACK. But even though I knew the songs featured in the movie were really great (like the duet w/Williams & Chayanne and many of the songs used for dance numbers),there was a part of me that still had my fingers crossed. Because i knew more than anything that i wanted one particular song to especially be on the CD. And in the past i've heard soundtracks that have left out songs that i felt should not have been ommitted. The song in this case was PATRIA, sung by Reuben Blades. And yes, it is on the CD! So do get it. Because, for one, there are enough songs on it to find the ones you really love and because PATRIA is such a beautiful song, that is so worth having, that even if none of the other songs were i would have bought it anyway for PATRIA alone. And i normally need to like at least 5 songs to want to own it, unless one is really good enough to win me over to where i would let the other ones grow on me. But thankfully the other songs happen to be great as well and will not disappoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Latin Beats, June 11, 2000
By
This review is from: Dance with Me: Music from the Motion Picture (Audio CD)
This is a very good soundtrack. The movie itself was good, but the music made it simply better. My favorite songs are: Thalia's "Echa pa'lante," Gloria's "Tres Deceos," and Sergio Mendez's "Magalenha"(this one was an excellent example of the latin beats). Overall this is one of my favorite soundtracks to date.

This movie is full of music, of course, since it is about dancing. The album is full of Latin and Afro-Cuban dance music which will really make you feel like dancing with them too! My favorite track is the very first, "Magalenha" by Sergio Mendez. I still haven't figured out what language it's in but I love the groove to it. It is followed by Latin-music-goddess Gloria Estefan's "Heaven's What I Feel (Dance Remix)", which I also love. Gloria's song "Tres Deseos"- an old favorite of mine- is also included in this CD. Other well-known Spanish artists that appear in the album track are Chayanne, Jon Secada, Vannessa Williams, Thalia, and Ana Gabriel. I recommend this CD the most out of all the soundtracks I own because of its great mixture of Latin songs that go together to create a soundtrack as fun and danceable as the movie is!
