My very favorite Sergio Mendes Jazz album!, June 18, 2000
I love this album. Every track. I've loved it since the day I first heard it, and I continue to play it frequently. Classic jazz tunes (including "Satin Doll", "Love for Sale", etc.) with SOLID Brazilian percussion backing every beat, along with fantastic jazz piano playing by Sergio himself. The improv treats on piano, flute and trombone are tasteful and enjoyable.
Every arrangement is a jem, a jewel to be appreciated over and over again.
It is a disgrace that an album as great as this has never been issued within the U.S. and only ever been available as an import. I hope that this situation changes in the future.
Anyone who is a serious jazz fan needs to seek out this album, it's a MUST.
