I just tried this the other day, and I loved it so much I did the whole first and second levels (about 20 sessions total) all at once! By the end, it seemed really easy and made me feel almost coordinated - yay! YET... later that night I went back and just tried the second level and almost fell on my face. So I have a feeling you can do this over and over and it won't get boring or "too easy."

HOWEVER... the third level, the so-called "dance-off" is more like Death Dance 2007. The music is way faster, and the arrows on the screen are so fast I'm not sure how a human is supposed to move that fast... I presume it's possible though, so I guess in the end that's a good thing, because I can keep practicing level 3 while I have lots of fun with levels 1 and 2!

I like the screen graphics - even the animated Roxee doing the moves with you is helpful. When I was looking for something like this, I also looked at the Twister DVD dance game, and looking at the back of the box, it looks like their graphics are extremely simplistic. The 2 mats that go with this game do NOT attach to anything that scores you - they just go on the floor by themselves. This is the same for the Twister game. I think it's ok though - you can worry about having fun and not obsess about doing it perfectly.

I'm 28 and in fairly good shape, and doing some of the dances in levels 1 and 2 indeed made me break a sweat. The only thing I didn't like was when Roxee would come on the screen afterwards and ask if you wanted to do the same one again or try another one - because I would be so excited about keeping going and I didn't want to wait for her to ask it! However, I think little kids would like this.

My 9 year old loves it, though she was bummed when she realized the mat didn't really "know" if she did it right or not. But she loves to play it and really works up a sweat, which is the reason I bought it. It's a great workout for me too!

This version does NOT score or even aknowledge your steps. I have been an avid DDR player for years, and have even reccommended DDR for healthy weightloss and excersize programs to a LOT of my friends, who have had great success.

My nephew begs and bugs about playing DDR at my house every time he's in town. I thought I would gift him with a way he could play it at home for his last birthday, and since he doesn't have a playstation, and XBox versions of the games are becoming more rare, I thought this would be fun for him. I was shocked to see what arrived in the mail. (Not amazons fault of course.)

I checked out the specs online before I bought it, and even up against the "plug n play" versions of the game that retail for around the same price, I thought SURELY there would be no such thing as a DDR game that doesn't score your steps! What would be the point of that? When I saw what I bought him, I was disgusted! Firstly, "Roxy" is really corny, and her ever-so-cheesy "You're doing great!" and "Keep it up!" is hardly easier on the ears than an 80's Richard Simmons video. The small plastic sheet that you dance on is not only tiny width/length wise, but it's paper thin. There is no connection from the so called "dance mat" to the television, so every step you take, you may as well be taking on a "twister" mat in front of a family member who can just as easily shout "You're a GREAT dancer!" for free.
Save your money, or buy a plug n play, even though the graghics are awful, they still allow for step-scoring, THUS the REASON for playing DDR at all!

We have the xbox version of DDR and it is fun for teens and adults, but way too challenging for my six year old. My 8 year old can only do two songs on it. They often end up frustrated and/or in tears because they get boo'd.

This is a fabulous alternative for young ones because they never get boo'd, they have such positive feedback and it simulates the real thing; so as they get better, they can move onto the xbox version with much more confidence. I think it's great.

The box says for ages 5 and up and it is true (for those who have commented that it is boring - it isn't boring for a 6-9 year old). My two kids and one of their friends played for an hour before bed and had a blast and went right to sleep. No tears, they didn't even fight over the mats, and I had fun too!

I've never left feedback on a product before, but this one deserves two thumbs up for moms with young kids.

I got my daughter this for her birthday and we are both enjoying it. We don't have a gaming system, but it is fun to try the dances. Drawbacks are that it isn't interactive and the music could be better. Pluses are the fun factor and it is a great workout.

If you are looking for an interactive, not to mention active, version of this game, then spring for the Wii or Xbox versions. This won't cut it. I had intended for this to be an interesting change from my regular workout, but the DVD is too rigid to be used that way, with too long intervals between the menus, and the irritating instructor having way too much screen time. The routines and the music are more than passable, and hold enough of your attention to be a fun game for adults and children for a spur of the moment kind of activity.
