Still Think It's a Great Game,

Hi,I would have to strongly disagree with mDaWg about the machine. While ITG is much harder than DDR, DDR has been out for a much longer time and keeps its popularity going with DDR Supernova. True that some of the songs are off sync, but ITG also has some problems and isn't flawless. I think that Konami is definitely trying to work harder, and I applaud them for it. This is a great game, and if you have the money for the game, it is a great idea to invest it into this game, especially if you love music games!

It feels good to finally have a new arcade version of DDR.,
This review is from: Dance Dance Revolution Super Nova (Misc.)
Supernova is a pretty decent machine. The seems right(with all the licensing they do to make these games, you'd have to expect atleast this much). I've been playing DDR since 2004 and think It's the best foot rhythm game todate. In the grove is ok and pump it up....i just hate the 5-panel and menu intergration. A lot of people think In the Grove is a better game just because the steps for the songs are hard, which doesnt make the game itself good. There isn't any orignality with the songs or steps. Every song is just some generic techno. At the highest diffuclty all the songs play the same, no matter how the song sounds. I do like sound quality of the system though. its among the best. The pad is nicely made as well. to put it simply, DDR just provides a funner experience. when i play in the grove all i think is why am I doing these steps and when will the song be over.

Way too expensive,
This review is from: Dance Dance Revolution Super Nova (Misc.)
Don't waste your time, this is a blatant ripoff. The company that manufactured the design of the machine did a horrendous job. The pads are very difficult in terms of response. Even playing on brand new machines I find that I have to force a disproportionate amount of weight on each pad for it not to issue a "decent" or "miss." The song list is mediocre, which would guarantee a few days of entertainment, but after that it is something that you would find collecting dust within weeks. DDR is a great game, but out of the series Supernova with a 18,000 price tag is something to be avoided. DDR Extreme, the series that preceded Supernova, has a much larger song list with a much more frugal price (~4,000) with excellent pad and machine design. Better yet is a game entitled In The Groove. If you can get your hands on dedicated cabinet, that is an ITG2 machine, the pads and sensors are immaculate with excellent song selection and capabilities to upload your own songs and edits. It comes with a worthwhile ~$10,000 price tag if you can locate one, which is worth the cost because you can simply download all the steps and songs FROM DDR supernova, put them on a flash drive, and play them on your ITG2 dedicated cabinet. Do your research and know when you're being duped.

Amazing, but ridiculous.,

The Dance Dance Revolution system is absolutely amazing. It'll keep you entertained for hours. However, there are one or two major things wrong with it.The Positives: Great songs. Amazing two player competition. Great speaker system. Comfortable back handlebars. The Negatives: You have to really stomp on the arrow pad for the system to process the arrow. By the time you've stomped hard enough, the arrow is already long gone. The system is extremely overpriced. As of the 30th of November, 2008, the system goes for $16,800 on Amazon. First off, who the hell can afford that? Secondly, if they could afford it, who would spend a ridiculous amount of money on a game? Even though I know a few people who might, the point is simple. The game should be a MAXIMUM of maybe six thousand dollars. It's ridiculous and Amazon isn't going to sell it unless they get that price down.

The Truth.,

This game is one of the best rhythm games out there. If it wasn't it wouldn't be so popular right? alot of the songs are very original, upbeat and fun. If you're into rhythm games it'll seriously make you wanna keep playing all day.I don't wanna hate on other games but here's the truth. If you want to play a fun rhythm game easy enough for beginners but can also be challanging for experts play this game. If you want to play an ok game with very difficult steps, generic boring music and alot of mod options play ITG. (no disrespects to ITG but the songs do kinda suck compared to DDR)

Fun Machine,

As far as ITG machines being better quality, that is honestly a lie. Since ITG machines were mostly over hauled DDR machines to begin with. As far as quality is concerned all the DDR machines in our area are in very good shape when they arrive at an arcade but all the ITG machines have sticky buttons faded screens etc and these are machines that supposedly came directly from RoXor games. I have played many beat games and DDR is great for Beginners. If you want a challenge don't even bother with ITG it's just a waste of time The songs are not as fun; the graphics are substandard; and the machines are very poor quality. Try Pump It Up instead it is just as fun as DDR and has just as high quality machines and songs the only difference is that there are 5 panels instead of 4. There are of course many others but these are the main ones I've seen in arcades. The DDR Supernova machine did have it's flaws but they are easily fixable according to my friend who just called Konami and was sent the patch to fix it. As far as buying a machine for home use at all: I would highly discourage any but the most devoted DDR fans from doing so. You can buy some very nice hard pads like the ones from [...] or the ones from [...] then invest in some of the home games. You can get both the american and japanese ones plus some great eruopean mixes too right here at amazon. Happy Dancing!

A bit too pricey.,

If you own an arcade and you're looking for a DDR machine, that would probably be your ticket. However, I would even go as far as to suggest an In the Groove machine, mainly because you can hack the mainframe and put all the Supernova songs on it anyway. :) Cheaper too.But I think if you're a home player, I think your best bet is to buy the game for the PS2 and buy a few good-quality metal mats. It's similar to the arcade experience without all that money down the drain.

That is what they cost,
This review is from: Dance Dance Revolution Super Nova (Misc.)
That is the price they sell for. It does not matter if it's for home use or you are in the arcade business, you will have to pay this price to get this machine.

Arcade Machines are Expensive,
This review is from: Dance Dance Revolution Super Nova (Misc.)
And this is what they cost. Those whining about the price: THIS IS WHAT YOU PAY! Used machines are cheaper but for a brand new one, that price is about right. About the machine itself: I dont own one or have played this version but most DDR machines are sturdy and reliable. Especially for a machine that gets pounded on.
