A Good Disc., December 15, 2008
This review is from: Dance Sixties (Audio CD)
I first purchased the "Baby Boomer Classics: Dance Sixties" in the late 80s. I was assembling 60s music on CDs to replace my aging 45s and LPs, and I bought about a couple dozen of these compilation and anthology discs. Some were excellent and some were so-so. This is one of the former. My copy has a different cover, but it's identical to the presently offered disc in all other ways.
This is a nice collection of period songs and some are by my favorite 60s performers (Wilson Pickett, Ike and Tina Turner, Mitch Ryder, Jackie Wilson, Arethra Franklin and Otis Redding are foremost). I can use all of the songs for my purposes. I put the songs into iTunes and make up programs for my iPod. For example, these might go into a 60s selections program to create a nice 60s soundscape. The sound on the CD is of good quality and they mix well with other 60s music I have collected. It's a good disc.
