5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this story! August 2, 2012

Jo-Marie Lodge has created a wonderful tale of two unlikely lovers in the Wild West. The novel grabbed my attention from the very beginning and didn't let go. I fell in love with the characters - Gabe and Jess. The writing was excellent with lots of humour and emotion. The ending did not disappoint. A highly recommend read.

5.0 out of 5 stars "COMPELLING, THRILLING, ENTERTAINING!" August 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Gabriella Devere grows up overnight, after she witnessed the murder of her family by a gang of outlaws, and made a vow to make them pay. She wants vengeance, and the law won't help her, so she takes matters into her own hands. Jess McLowry learns about the brutal murder of Gabriella's family and what she plans to do with revenge. He sets out on a mission and heads west to help her, knowing she doesn't stand a chance with the outlaws. She is willing to sacrifice everything for the sake of her family. But, is she willing to sacrifice Jess? JoMarie Lodge delivers a compelling, heartfelt story with intense suspense throughout. This is an incredible western historical romance that entertains from beginning to end as the characters come to life. The setting is picture-perfect. Addicting, Enjoyable, and Highly Recommended!

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid 3.5 stars September 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Once again, I can't gush over a book that others have given such high reviews. It was a good plot that included the dangers of holding a grudge and getting revenge, a decent amount of clean romance, bad guys, small towns, the Old West. The descriptions were superb and I could definitely picture in my mind the landscape, towns, saloons, desert, etc..

I can't put my finger on what exactly didn't keep my interest. **THE NEXT SENTENCES MIGHT BE SPOILERS FOR SOME** Possibly Gabe's stubbornness or the repeated rescues when Jess would arrive just in the nick of time. The one I found the most far-fetched was her fall off the cliff.

I enjoyed Jess' soft side but Gabe just didn't see it. A bit of a surprise with Tanner but the ending was what I expected.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ok - this is a good book! August 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I finished this in less than 2 days. I really enjoyed it & became quickly immersed in the both the story & the characters. There were a few time that I did think the heroine was being completely stupid, but she had enough substance for me to look past that. As for Jess, talk about heart-melting!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best western yet! September 27, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm not good at writing reviews for a book with telling what the book is all about. All I can do is tell how I feel about one. Besides, most books are given a good description of what the book is about in the Book Description. This book has one of them. I loved the characters of Jess and Gabriella, or Gabe as she wanted to be called. This book has it's twist and turns. Once I thought I knew what was going to happen next, the unexpected would happen. This happened a number of times. The real surprise came near the end of the book. This book just kept me on my toes. It is a fantastic book. My all time favorite historical western romance I've read so far, and I have read lots of them. My all time favorite book that I have read was also written by this author. It was the first book of hers that I've read. It was also a fantastic book. A contemporary romance entitled "Seems Like Old Times". It's a story that sticks with you. "Dance With A Gunfighter" is my second all time favorite book. It's one that will stick with me also Joanne Pence is a fabulous author. If you like a good western romance, you won't be disappointed with this one. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars A keep-you-up-half-the-night story! January 8, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A wonderful story that keeps you on your toes. The setting, the characters and the situations all work perfectly. You can really understand and relate to Gabriela and Jess. And like them. I've professionally reviewed nearly 300 books, in multiple genres, and I can say with confidence that I loved this book more than 90% of all the others. This definitely a book I'll keep and reread.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fine little read . December 5, 2012

Well written, at times I felt as if I where in Tombstone with Gabe. However to be honest as with most female writers too much detail is given on her opinnion of the looks of the male character for me .

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Western Romance August 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The sweeping nature of this novel and the fabulous descriptions of the Old West are what drew me into the story. Never has a setting more captivated me than it did in this book. I could see it all, the desert, the wild towns. The plot was well-developed and continued from the first page to the last non-stop. There were some head-hopping issues, jumping from Gabe's POV to Jess's. And I had an issue for some reason with her description. I just could not wrap my head around her being a skinny tomboy and then think of her as a woman a man would desire. That said, however, the romance is what kept me turning the pages. The author drew it out, but so subtle that until the very end, I still prayed for a happy ending. I appreciate that she concentrated more on the feelings between the two characters, than sex scenes, and developed their love over a longer period of time. Jess McLowery is a superb gunfighter character who personifies the Old West for me. That he was tender toward Gabe made him all the more appealing. In fact, more so to me than she was, and for him I kept reading. The ending totally surprised me. Really great Western Romance writing, which I recommend.
