About the Author
Meena Apurva is one of the most promising teenage dancers of classical dancers of India today. Meena has been under the tutelage of her mother and dancer, Guru Padma Chebrolu from an early age and learned several dance styles at Cultural Centre of India.
Meena says, "Dance is a very powerful way to communicate and entertain and cultural barriers can be overcome when the dancer presents it from the soul. Working with Indian classical musicians has been a tremendous learning experience. Indian melodic and rhythmic system is very unique and complex and totally different from western classical music. I read many books on dance, music, art, mythology to prepare myself as a dancer. People generally think, if you know how to dance and get the technique, you are done. But in Indian classical dance it is very intellectual, analytical and in-depth. It could be overwhelming and it is a test of your dedication."

Very cooool calendar,

I got this calendar as a gift from my parents for Christmas. I like lot of things about India especially the dance. The colors and rhythms fascinate me. Photos in this calendar are very cool and nicely done. I showed it to all my friends and they all go "wow" where did you get this. I like the way it has all the festivals and special days from all the coutries in the world. Some of them I never even heard of. Love it and will keep it for a long long time :-)
