3.0 out of 5 stars Beegie is Great
While this is not Beegie's finest cd, it is very worthwhile. I enjoy anything she does.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Dancing in the Dark (2008) ... Beegie Adair ... Green Hill", September 2, 2008

Green Hill Productions presents "DANCING IN THE DARK", a musical tribute to Fred Astaire --- featuring pianist Beegie Adair one of the best kept secrets around --- if you haven't discovered Beegie Adair yet, you don't know what you've been missing --- She performs with the Beegie Adair Trio, whose members include drummer Chris Brown, a veteran of the Maynard Ferguson ensemble, and bassist Roger Spencer, who has played with the Les Brown Band, Ray Conniff, the Page Cavanaugh Trio and Pete Jolly. They are, she says, my main guys. They're so tuned into the way I visualize music that its effortless to play with them.

About her music Adair says, "Falling in love with jazz is like falling in love with a person, except with jazz you never get over it." --- Once in a while a musician comes along with impeccable technique, deep understanding of the jazz repertoire, an innate tendency to swing and the rare ability to communicate the heart and soul of a tune to listeners. That musician is Beegie Adair.

Beegie is citing George Shearing, Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson and Erroll Garner among her influences, Adair has recorded over 20 CDs, ranging from Cole Porter standards to Frank Sinatra classics to romantic World War II ballads --- Her 6-CD Centennial Composers Collection of tunes by Rodgers, Gershwin, Kern, Ellington, Carmichael and Berlin became an instant collectible classic when it was released in 2002.

Personal thanks from Beegie to her home team, husband Bill, for everything, always and their newest family member, English Setter Douglas B. Dog, who occasionally likes to try playing the piano with nose or paw.

Hats off to Producer Jack Jezzro, Executive Producer Greg Howard, Engineer Brendan Harkin and Manager Gregory Byerline--- after 12 tracks it does leave you wanting more --- and we know they'll be more down the road --- if you enjoyed this album, why do not try another new release "In A Sentimental Mood" (Green Hill 5563) featuring The Beegie Adair Trio, with Roger Spencer on bass and Chris Brown on drums --- relive the romantic songs of Duke Ellington with a smooth blend of instrumental jazz --- just the way we like it ... THE BEEGIE ADAIR TRIO!

I bought this after hearing the Beegie Adair trio on a tape. Her easy playing style captured my ear immediately! Soon after I bought Dancing In The Dark by Beegie we had a dinner party at which I put it on the CD player as background music. Our guests commented how wonderful it sounded --- a perfect background for the party while at the dinner table! I subsequently bought Beegie's Tribute to Nat King Cole. Beegie Adair and Erroll Garner can't be beat for having a style so alike and so wonderfully enoyable for relaxed listening. One certainly can't go wrong buying this CD.

I have definitely fallen in love with Beegie's flair with "ivories". Her jazz reditions of oldies surely brings back the time and feel of the moment. Hope she continues to " tickle the ivories" for a long time.

Music is generational and also very personal and 'one person's music can be another person's noise', but if you like 'easy listening' music and piano I would highly recommend this album. Beegie Adair is very talented and has a wonderful 'easy listening' piano style. If you like this style of music, I would highly recommend this album. I enjoy it very much.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beegie rolls again, December 30, 2009

Beegie is very smooth and predictable. She sounds like a polished nighclub pianist and very relaxing to listen to. Great background music. I have three of her CDs. Will but more. That said, she's no Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson, Robert Levin, or Mituko Uchida. But she's very nice to listen to. Ear candy.

I ordered this for my husband who is a huge Beegie Adair fan. I don't think we've ever listened to an album of hers we didn't like. There is a lot of nice variety, but the quality of her performance always comes through and the recording is of top quality.

If you enjoy piano music, and have never heard Beegie Adair, you will most certainly enjoy her renditions of your old favorites!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rich, full, smooth, clean, tasteful. Perfect easy listening., July 29, 2010
This review is from: Dancing in the Dark (Audio CD)
I have almost all of her CDs. At least 2-3 are always in my car CD player. It's perfect background music. She has a rich, full style that includes enough improv to make it interesting, but not so much that you can't tell what the piece is. Most of her music is from the big band era, my personal favorite, and her style complements that genre perfectly.
