This CD Captures the Uniqe Tannies' Sound at Its Best!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dancing Feet (Audio CD)
Despite the boring cover, this is the Tannahill Weavers at their best. The Tannies combine bagpipes, whistle, flute and violin like no one else, the Battlefield Band included. Though the band has now changed personnel (Ross Kennedy, Iain MacInnes, and Stuart Morrison have moved on), this CD captures the unique Tannies'sound superbly. The band offers up a potent mix of high-powered tunes (hence the title) and some fine Scottish songs - traditional, Robert Burns- penned and modern. They still do much of this material in concert some 12 years later. You won't be able to keep still during the tunes and their gorgeous version of Wild Mountain Thyme is not to be missed. (Bagpipes on a ballad!) You can't go wrong here if you have any interest in traditional Scottish music ... or a dancing bone in your body!

The Tannies Sparkle on this Album,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dancing Feet (Audio CD)
"Dancing Feet" is an apt name for this excellent album. Dancing rhythms abound, both in instrumentals like the "Turf Lodge" set that opens the album and in vocal numbers like the martial "Tranient Muir" and the exuberant "Maggie Lauder." For a change of pace, there is the finest version I have ever heard of the oft-recorded "Wild Mountain Thyme."The Tannies are best known for the excellence of their pipers (Iain MacInnes on this album), but to my mind their musical signature is the guitar work of Roy Gullane. His playing on this album is simply electrifying. Fans of the Tannies will find this a marvelous addition to their collections, while anyone wanting to give them a try will find "Dancing Feet" an excellent first purchase.
