A very good read,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dancing at the Harvest Moon (Mass Market Paperback)
After reading all the reviews I thought I would give my own. To the cynics, this book wasn't meant to be Shakespeare, it was meant to give one an escape and to lighten one's heart. That's what it did for me. This book was very well written, I could see everything the author described. I only wish Maggie hadn't waited so long to go to Eliot. I didn't try to compare this book with Bridges, the two stories are different, and shouldn't be compared. I liked the story, and read it in one day, like others, I just couldn't put it down. After I read the book, I found myself thinking of my own first love, and what would've happened if I had stayed with him. I am going to read other books the author has written under both names. I'm sure they will be just as good. Thank you Catherine Pelliter (aka K. C. McKinnon) for writing this beautiful book!

Beautiful story,

This is a wonderfully-told story of a man's love of nature and the deep love between one woman and one man to be found only once in a lifetime.I was amazed by the fantasizing and conjecturing that Maggie went through at such times as when she sees flowers on her doorstep or the phone rings. It was quite realistic, and my heart beat faster each time, as I felt her anxiety. A beautiful illustration (a loon, a great blue heron, the Harvest Moon . . .), credited to Carl E. Hileman, graces the start of each new chapter. Combined with the beautiful story, including letters written between two young lovers, these illustrations wove magic in my heart. This book is a treasure. If you enjoy it, try _All the Winters that Have Been_, by Evan Maxwell.

Wonderful story!,

DANCING AT THE HARVEST MOON made my fantasies of rekindling old flames go sky-high. How I would love to be able to do what Maggie did! I cheered for her for finding herself and learning how to be herself and laughed at the levity provided by her friend, Claire. This story is TRUE romance.

Relaxing, heart warming,

This review is from: Dancing at the Harvest Moon (Mass Market Paperback)
At first, I was unsure whether or not I would like the content of this book, the way she found herself falling for the son of her long ago love of her life. But as the book went on, I began to enjoy it more. It is about a woman that had been hurt in the past and how she is trying to find herself, find the happiness she has always wanted, and doing something that makes her happy. The more I read, the "closer" I got to the characters and the more enjoyable the story became. Although I admit the story line is not something I usually go for, this book was very refreshing and relaxing. I finished it while I was on vacation in the mountains, and it was the best vacation book I think I have ever read. So, I recommend this book to anyone ready for a good, relaxed story of an independant woman trying to grasp the happiness she has seemed to miss out on all her life.

It is set in an area I am very familiar with, and love. McKinnon sets the scenes so well, you feel you are there. I loved it.

The discription of the setting is wonderful. The author made it sound so romantic. I thought at first the age difference would bother me but the more I read the more it didn't matter. This is a great book and I would recommend this to anyone.

Wonderful escape reading,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dancing at the Harvest Moon (Mass Market Paperback)
I know that many of the reviewers are right...the plot was a bit thin and I did get tired of the repetition of the name "Robert Flaubert", but I had to give this book 5 stars because the love story just drew me in. I loved it. Sure, it was a fantasy and I highly doubt it could happen in real life, but not every book has to hit the reader with the harsh reality of life. The relationship between Maggie and Eliot was very powerful and I don't care if Robert was perfect, I still fell in love with him, and with Eliot too. So, if you're looking for some good escape reading for a beautiful fall day, take this book along.

Reading it was as if you stepped into a very rich and personal world which somewhat reflects situations all of us can be in. The novel was engrossing to me, and very visual... I could almost see the Harvest Moon and the beautiful landscapes described within it. I sincerely reccomend..

I'll never forget the return to Little Bear Lake and love,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dancing at the Harvest Moon (Hardcover)
This book is a classic and virtually impossible to put down. The author paints an emotional masterpiece of midlife crisis, lost loves, starting over, hope, and forbidden love, all in the tranquil setting of the Harvest Moon dance hall on Little Bear Lake. The author's words take us from the real world into a world of new beginnings and new hopes.

One of my all time favorites,

I have read this book many times, and I have yet to figure out why I love it so much. The author writes beautifully. You feel what her characters feel, all their longings and fears. I think that is it, because this book makes you "feel." I recently donated boxes and boxes of my books to the library because I was moving. I allowed myself to keep one box of them and this book was in there. Forever on my keeper list, I won't even loan it out
