A treasure trove,
By A Customer

Stephen Wade is a hero to American folk music historians and players for the work he's done collecting and re-recording many "lost" tunes. But besides the academic interest, this album has nothing but beautiful tunes, not a few haunting for their melodies as well as the history they evoke.

I can't tell you how many times I saw Stephen Wade when he had his long running show "Banjo Dancing" and later, "Dancing Home" in the Old Vat Room at Arena Stage in Washington DC. The show was always fresh, and always fun. This album brings back such memories. Stephen is a great banjo picker. Now I can wind him up any time I want. Thank you!

Outstanding Banjo,

If you like the banjo and 5-string banjo at that you'll love this album. Stephen Wade's banjo tells stories and ballads with their haunting melodies. I bought this album in 1999 and have been listening to it ever since - - i'm here on this site to buy another copy since I've worn out the original copy. I believe American folk and banjo are set for a revival not to be topped by the 60's, and Wade's works will certainly be among those to lead the way.
